I wanted to write something here about the Berlin conference before the day runs out
Today making it 140 years since 14 Europe powers, Ottoman Turkey, and the USA sat down to decide the fate of Africa
🧵
"ẹ̀gúsí is literally an igbo word"
You don't even know your language.
That's bad
You’ve lost so much touch with your language that you think Yoruba words are Igbo words, and that’s even if you’re truly unaware and not intentionally being stupid. This tweet should be a big slap to your entire tribe. You all neglected your own language and culture and suddenly want another person’s culture because you can see how they adore theirs. It’s not too late because if you all don’t start learning what is truly indigenous to you, you will end up erasing your existence. Ole Barawo, Egusi is a Yoruba word. 🤡
You want all these things and it is Obi you are supporting
Lol. Be deceiving yourself and your gullible followers.
Nobody has positioned himself as a systems thinker and builder and reshaper of structures more than Tinubu
Just thank God, Obi cannot even win
For me, what I expect from a Peter Obi's presidency may be completely different from many of you.
I am not supporting him because I expect him to return fuel price back to what it used to be.
I am not supporting him because I expect that prices of foodstuff will automatically become cheaper.
I am not supporting him because I expect that Nigeria will be like Dubai under 4 years.
Peter Obi cannot do that.
For Nigeria to be anything near the semblance of any developed country, it will take a minimum of 20 years with consistent purposeful leadership.
What I expect to benefit from the Peter Obi's presidency are completely different.
I want to see a compete reset or overhaul of our political systems, structures and improvements in our participation as citizens in the process.
I want to see a Nigeria where young people are not afraid or discouraged to go into politics because they know that their they can make a difference without having a god father.
I want to see a Nigeria where people will have faith in the judiciary and get justice no matter who the person is in the society.
I want to see a Nigeria where all these old politicians are retired and made redundant or irrelevant. And most of them go to prison for what they did.
I want to see a Nigeria where people believe in INEC and do not need to go to court to challenge their loss or defend their victory.
Peter Obi will not perform magic under 4 years.
Anyone expecting him to perform magic in a bastardized country like Nigeria is being delusional.
What Peter Obi represents is a symbol of hope, a new beginning and a complete reset button.
The old ways of doing things aren't working. And we cannot continue to do things the same way, expecting a different result.
A Peter Obi presidency will be the most important challenging, most criticized and most hated.
Even far more than that of Tinubu.
If you want to change Nigeria, you need a president that can lay a foundation for your children in the right way.
And hope that the person who takes over doesn't take us back to what we are running away from.
We have tried all the recycled leaders, and nothing has changed.
If Peter is a symbol of that little hope, let's give him the chance, and reduce our expectations.
Rome was not built in a day.
End.

When I was a junior staff member eight years ago, I hardly ever ate out because my salary couldn’t sustain that lifestyle. If I worked late and got home hungry, I still had to cook, even if it was just a small pack of Indomie.
Three years later, my pay had increased. I could afford to eat out on stressful days, go on dates, and have drinks with the boys. What does that show? That I had a new source of income and could now afford more.
Back to your tweet: in a thriving economy, people are more willing to spend. One person’s expenditure becomes another person’s income, and the cycle continues.
Let me just say it: NOTHING thrives on your side of the country. That’s why so many of your people have had to move to other parts of the country, and why your IGR figures are peanuts.
Thanks again for saying what we all knew all along.
I don't really know much about Akwa Ibom or Calabar , but let me speak on behalf of my Igbo people.
We Igbos don't really believe in buying cooked food. We prefer to prepare our own meals.
One reason I think the Yorubas have thrived more in the food business is that they are more accustomed to buying prepared food rather than always cooking at home.
Growing up, our Yoruba neighbours would give their children ₦20 every morning to buy food before going to school. Our parents, on the other hand, rarely did that. They made sure we had food prepared at home before leaving for school.
Years ago, if you opened a commercial food business in the East, you might struggle to make sales because people weren't accustomed to buying cooked food. Almost everyone prepared their own meals at home.
So, I think this difference in food culture is one of the reasons the Yorubas gained an advantage in the food business.

A slave trader spent three episodes of Game of Thrones calling Daenerys a bitch and a whore right to her face, because he was positive she didn't speak his language. Turns out it was her family's language. He was speaking a busted, watered-down version of it, and the guy HBO hired to invent it made it that way on purpose.
HBO brought in a linguist named David J. Peterson to turn George R.R. Martin's handful of made-up words into real, working languages. He built High Valyrian as the language of a fallen empire, the one Targaryens were raised on, with eight grammatical cases and four genders.
Then he built the slaver's dialect as whatever's left after a few centuries in a slave city. Most of the cases got stripped out, and the four genders collapsed into two. Peterson has joked that making it meant taking a bat to the pretty, proper original.
So up to this point, every line of Valyrian you'd heard on the show came out of this guy's mouth, in the busted version, while his translator quietly cleaned up his insults into something polite.
When Daenerys finally answers him, that's the first time anyone on Game of Thrones speaks real High Valyrian beyond a stock phrase. It took 24 episodes to get there.
And Peterson slipped one more detail into her line that most people never caught. When she says "a dragon is not a slave," she uses buzdari, the slaver's word for slave, and skips her own word, dohaeriros. That's the same root as Valar Dohaeris, "all men must serve," which is what the season premiere was called. She grabbed his word on purpose, so the second it left her mouth he'd know she caught every insult since the day she walked into his city.
The producers were honestly nervous about shooting it, between how many people they needed on set and how much effects work goes into a dragon that doesn't exist. Alex Graves, in his first time directing the show, got it done in two or three days. They said a movie would've needed eight. And those walls behind her are Ridley Scott's Jerusalem from Kingdom of Heaven, still standing at a studio outside Ouarzazate in Morocco.
Emilia picked up her first Emmy nomination that year.
By the time the dragon opens its mouth, Kraznys has already lost. She beat him with one word from his own vocabulary.

Some Nigerians struggle to accept Yoruba cultural hegemony. From cuisine and enterprise to academia and metropolitan influence. But Yoruba influence is constantly contested, appropriated or repackaged as generic “Nigerian culture”, mostly likely out of envy.
This thing that igbo people didn't record history in anyway is really causing a lot of problems for them.
Cus look at how this one just manufactured a narrative from nowhere.
Because Nigeria is not how countries should be.
It has never worked anywhere where different civilizations are put together
What you get is a clash of civilisations.
Even within a civilisation, you can't have two or more opposing powers
That's why Austria is not part of Germany
This is totally false.
India is not any melanin of Asia. India is diverse.
And come on, it is completely unintellectual to suggest lack of melanin and ability to build complex tool has a correlation, history proves otherwise. I'll be completely honest with you, that's crazy talk
I'm actually of the opinion that the first Igala dynasty that ended with Ọgala Eri was of Ife
This "royal ancestor descended from the sky" is very specific to Ife
Igala have it with the royal ancestor of the current dynasty Agenapoje
Umueri-Igbos have it with Eri who fled Igala
That is 100% correct
People like to create narratives that are borderline superstitions and fantasy. Real life is not interesting enough I guess.
Thing is, much of Yoruba cultural innovation froze in the 18th century. 19th century was too chaotic
and Colonialism started
Una dey really take this content thing serious o
HR Manager: “Your salary will be delayed until next month.”
Employee: “Sorry, what? Why?”
HR Manager: “There’s an issue with payroll. Management is aware.”
Employee: “But my salary was supposed to come in today. I have bills to pay.”
HR Manager: “I understand, but there’s nothing I can do.”
Employee: “Can I at least get something in writing?”
HR Manager: “We’ll send an email when everything is sorted.”
The employee returned to his desk, disappointed.
He had been counting on that salary to pay his rent, clear a loan, and send money to his family.
Three days later, his manager called him into the office.
Manager: “Why haven’t you completed the new project?”
Employee: “I’ve been working on it, sir.”
Manager: “Then why are you asking for an advance?”
Employee: “Because my salary hasn’t been paid.”
Manager: “That’s not an excuse. Everyone is working despite the situation.”
Employee: “I understand, sir. But I have responsibilities outside this office.”
Manager: “We all do. I expect the project to be completed by Friday.”
The employee nodded and returned to his desk.
That evening, he received an email from HR.
Subject: Salary Payment Update
“Please be informed that salary payments have been temporarily delayed due to administrative issues.”
He saved the email.
The following morning, he received another message from his manager.
Manager: “I need you to attend a meeting with HR at 10 a.m.”
He had no idea what the meeting was about.
When he arrived, HR was already waiting.
HR Manager: “We’ve received a complaint about your attitude toward management.”
Employee: “My attitude?”
HR Manager: “You’ve been asking too many questions about your salary.”
Employee: “I’ve only asked when I’ll be paid.”
HR Manager: “You need to understand that the company is going through a difficult period.”
Employee: “I do understand. But I still have bills to pay.”
Manager: “We need people who are committed to the company.”
Employee: “I’ve been working without my salary for three weeks.”
Manager: “And we appreciate that.”
Employee: “Then why am I being called here instead of being paid?”
Nobody answered.
HR Manager: “We’ll discuss this further.”
The employee left the meeting wondering how asking for his own salary had become a disciplinary issue.
But the following Monday, something happened that changed everything.
His manager called him into the office again.
Manager: “We need to talk about your performance.”
Employee: “What about it?”
Manager: “You’ve failed to meet several targets.”
Employee: “Which targets?”
Manager: “We’ll go through them in the meeting.”
The employee opened his notebook.
He had been keeping records of every missed payment, every email, and every instruction.
He knew something was wrong.
And this time, he was prepared.

This is the person some enemies of Lagos don't want to be governor of Lagos, instead pushing that Rhodes guy
God abeg o
Anyway, nothing can stop Hamzat come 2027
Most of you know this story, but none of you have heard it from me.
Back in September 2018, Femi Hamzat wanted to be Governor of Lagos State. He had thirteen years of public service under Asiwaju and BRF, with the record and backing to win. Then party leaders asked him to step aside for me.
It takes a rare man to put down what he wants without nursing a grudge. Femi shook my hand and five weeks later, agreed to run beside me. I have never forgotten that.
Anyone can read a CV but only the person in the room with a man when the cameras leave can tell you who he really is. For 2,711 days, I have been in that room with him.
When COVID-19 hit, when we faced our hardest weeks, when the Blue and Red Lines ran and when the Lekki Deep Sea Port opened, Femi was there. Long before any ribbon was cut, he was asking the tough questions an engineer asks.
In many states, deputies are kept in reserve. On day one, Femi promised to be the best deputy governor in Lagos history. He kept his word. In seven years, there has not been a single day I wondered whose side he was on. We have had one government, one direction, and one voice.
Lagos runs on a relay system. The baton is never passed to a runner standing still. You run at full speed inside the exchange zone, together, before the pass. That is how Lagos has been governed for 27 years, from Asiwaju to BRF, to Ambode, to me.
Femi is a deputy governor like no other. He built the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge under Fashola, digitized government under Asiwaju and holds a doctorate in engineering. His father served Lateef Jakande. This is in his blood.
Critics say Lagos keeps choosing from the same pool. I say Lagos trains its people. With major projects underway and a master plan stretching to 2052, this is not the time to experiment. What Femi presents today is not a campaign promise cooked up on a bus, it is the next leg of a race we have been running since 1999.
Lagos does not hand the baton to a man standing still. Today, you have seen the man who is already running. Let us move forward together with The Lagos PROMISE.
