Language education is about relationships: not just relationships between people but also people's relationship with language.
My heart breaks for my big brother @barrysvrluga and the loss of the @washingtonpost sports department. I hope that during his final days there his reporting and coverage of the great @MikaelaShiffrin will cross Mitch’s desk at @vermontpublic as he launches his new show! 💜💜💜

Personally, this is devastating. In 2003, then-sports editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz took a chance on me to cover Maryland men’s basketball and football. He then somehow saw fit to put me on the newly relocated Montreal Expos.
He changed my life. The Post changed my life.

Educators have ZERO control over any of these. 🤔👇
Stop placing ALL the blame on teachers and schools.

OMGOODNESS words of wisdom from the amazing Jon Cowart: Ts need to be referees. #1 goal is to ensure the game is safe, #2 is to ensure the game is fair.

I could listen to @DuYanzi talk for days! I am loving her #conferenceinthecloud23 session on reading. Choose different ways/tones/voices to read a text.

All of your strategies in language teaching will stem from what you believe about language acquisition. @Michelle_Kindt #fluencymatters23

Input and output should come at the right level for the given context. It should be good enough for the task at hand. @Prof_F_Henshaw #fluencymatters23

Input tells learners what IS possible with the language (implicitly), but it doesn’t tell learners what is NOT possible with the language. Some explicit grammar instruction can help students monitor their output. #fluencymatters23 @Prof_F_Henshaw
Thanks to Twitter, I can follow things at #fluencymatters23 while also participating in #conferenceinthecloud23
And I know I can go back and watch the ☁️ videos because they're all recorded!!

Words of wisdom from our beginner French language teacher Bernard Rizzotto to help encourage and connect with students, and put them at ease: “when you pass this door, you’re entering French, and it’s a safe space.”

I gotta say, if this isn’t a classic picture of coaching, I don’t know what is!! #cisummit
It never fails, @paulinobrener never fails to make me laugh!! #cisummit23
One of my fav things about working for the #conferenceinthecloud is that even if you can't attend live, you can still register and access sessions for months when it fits YOUR schedule! Ex: ALL of my live classes from last year are available! Link in bio!
