FIIs losing faith in Indian markets is a case of failed circular logic. For decades now #FIIs WERE the Indian stock market with others riding piggyback on them. Stocks go up when people buy them. When one set of local people want to sell when FIIs are buying and FIIs want the opposite to happen, the market is in a deadlock. Middle class -driven SIPs are not leveraged, options-friendly or fluffy for manipulation. What India needs is a wave of domestic M&As to drive efficiency value. But lalajis won't let go of control. Houston, we have a problem. Besides, corporate action pipeline in India is dull. – at Noida, India

I’m shocked by Justice Aryak’s judgment. I’m no lawyer, but I believe it strikes at the very foundation of democracy-the fundamental right to free speech. A judgment that silences citizens for speaking their minds threatens the constitutional freedoms of every Indian.

This offers a lot of clarity to amplify what I tweeted in brief yesterday. If you want it in telegraphic language: ECs sidestepped; EROs overruled; voter deletion centralised by secret software; transparency denied by #CEC to colleagues and various parties; judiciary sought to be confused or delayed by convoluted language and inadequate affidavits. – at Noida, India
The Election Commission’s affidavit filed in the Supreme Court last evening is deceptive, deceitful and duplicitous. It is also extremely damaging—to itself. 1. Illegal amendment of Form 6: The ECI has engaged in patent deception and word games on this point. First, it claimed that the new declaration attached to Form 6 was upheld by the Supreme Court, which the Court subsequently contradicted. Second, it now claims that the new declaration form is separate, and Form 6 was not amended. But this is a deception - Form 6 could not be submitted online without filling this mandatory declaration. Third, the ECI’s own stand keeps changing: on 26 Sep, 2026 it said this declaration was attached to Form 6. It now says it is not a part of Form 6. The ECI cannot cover up its blatant violation of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. 2. Unilateral decisions by CEC: The ECI has shifted the goalposts by claiming the major SIR orders were formally approved by all three Election Commissioners. But the two ECs objected on record to grave violations and illegal actions taking place on the orders of the CEC – their objections were disregarded. The ECs were not even informed and learnt of these decisions from the news. This is not unanimity but unilateral decision-making. 3. Illegal centralisation by ECINET: The use of ECINET to centralise control over electoral rolls and override the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), who are the statutory authority, was put on file by the 2 ECs. Evidence of EROs being overruled has come from nearly every SIR state: Goa, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to name a few. 4. The rogue IT division: The ECs repeatedly expressed concern that the IT division operates opaquely, oversteps its mandate and takes unauthorised actions. They wrote to the Cabinet Secretary about their concerns on ECINET and the functioning of the IT division. Many more revelations about the mess around the IT division have emerged since. There has been no change in its operation, nor any action on these issues. 5. SIR disaster: Numerous illegalities and violations have emerged around the SIR process. In nearly every state, Form 7 has been misused for mass deletions. 6. No denial of revelations: The affidavit does not deny the veracity of the ongoing revelations in large sections of the media. This is another confirmation of the gross malpractice and legal violations by the CEC. Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. And when we have done it for a while, it comes out in a crooked style.

That awkward moment when #VenuSrinivasan plays a double shuffle @tatatrusts and @tatacompanies, and his own home gets divided over #TVS Group assets. Karma?

This is the most scandalous part of the @ECISVEEP action on #SIR. A lack of transparency AND process within the ECI resulting in irregularities at voting booth level with questionable electoral outcomes – at Noida, India

THE JULY ORDER. It confirms a senior officer redistributed work without the Commission, that both Commissioners wrote to the Cabinet Secretary, and that the order “was never implemented” after their joint direction. What it doesn’t say: why it was issued, why Joshi was refused the file by an officer, or what became of the officer (Maneesh Garg). He isn’t named. Nobody in the affidavit is. (7/10)

On FORM 6 it says the SIR declaration was a separate document, not an amendment to the statutory form. BUT it concedes the way it appeared online “could be construed as though an amendment of Form 6 had been made,” that “certain steps taken by the officers” needed “to be corrected,” and that on Oct 21 the form was split back in two. What it doesn’t say: Who inserted the declaration in the online form in July, two months after two of three members recorded in writing that it couldn’t be done. (3/10)

The Election Commission has filed its reply in the Supreme Court to the petition on how the three-member Commission functions. 27 pages, approved by all three members. Its argument: every decision was unanimous, and a Commissioner’s note is a “suggestion,” not a decision. Here’s what it addresses, and what it doesn’t. 🧵 (1/10)

First, the frame. The petition rests on an investigation by @IndianExpress revealing 14 objections by Election Commissioners Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, recorded over 10 months, objecting to decisions taken in the Commission’s name without their knowledge. The affidavit doesn’t dispute a single note. It only says that the Commission “has neither released nor authorised the release” of them. (2/10)

Imagine Form 6 is the form to join the voting list, like a school admission paper. During a big cleanup of voter lists, the Election Commission added an extra question about whether you or your parents were on older lists. They call it just an addition, not a real change to the form. Critics say adding it still modifies how the form works. Their court paper stays quiet on the ERONET computer system that handles the lists. Many questions stay open. The full picture is not clear yet.
