Two straight days of taking kids to another town to the doctor has already made this week feel like it's been 1,000 years long.

Favorite part of my work week: One of my little patrons remembered that I can fix books and he brought me one of his favorite board books that needed some TLC. Made my heart melt 🥰

Last night I watched Brigadoon for the first time. There's a really disturbing secondary plot line that never finds resolution. I have thoughts.

Going to opening night of our oldest's first college musical while missing the first hs choir concert for our younger two. Was going to feel guilty either way. Tomorrow we'll go to hs activities and miss night two of the show. Then we'll finally attend night 3 as a family 🙃

I did some out of the library work yesterday, shopping for supplies for an upcoming construction project, and reader... I'm very tired this morning. I'm currently trying to muster up the energy to get off the couch!

An important piece that unfortunately feels all too familiar...
My latest article explores a process I’m calling institutional dismemory: how institutions rewrite the past to protect the present. wademullen.substack.com/p/in…

Awesome! I have three kids who are artistically talented and kid art always makes me smile
#NewProfilePic care of my daughter who sketched this while I was exhorting at church this morning on the subject of the Lord’s Supper.

Praying for our Dear Lord's presence to be known & felt by those grieving today all over the world, but especially in Bend OR, Witchita KS, and Wainwright Canada. May we look to Him together. 🤍🙏

Tragedies like these - including Wichita yesterday - hit hard for me, not because they're all the same but because I come from a family where one of us didn't come home. My younger brother drowned at 10 when I was 15 and a soph in HS. Everything changes.
How do you go home when your child isn’t coming with you? Their bed is still there. Their favorite cereal is in the kitchen. The clothes you washed for them are waiting to be put away. That’s what I keep thinking about as I read about Oregon. The parents who woke up with plans for an ordinary day and now face something so different. So difficult. My children have heard me say, “Be safe,” more times than they could count. You say it because you love them. Because you know you cannot go everywhere they go. If Sandy Hook wasn’t enough to bring us together to better protect our children, what will be? I seek change. I seek change.. I seek change… I support the Second Amendment. I also believe people with violent histories or those found through due process to pose a danger to themselves or others should not have access to firearms. Gun owners should secure their firearms. Threats should be taken seriously and followed up on. Families who are asking for help need somewhere to turn before someone gets hurt. Teachers need to be heard when they raise concerns. Schools need the resources to address them. First responders deserve support for the things they see and carry home. We need to talk honestly about how people who pose a danger get access to firearms and what can be done to stop them. My years in public safety taught me to look upstream. We will always need people ready to respond, but we also need to find the places where we can step in before a family’s worst day. We cannot ask grieving families to keep telling us about their children while we refuse to move. A child does not have to be mine for their life to matter to me. I seek change. 🇺🇸

Cold brew remains my instinct for second coffee. I'm not sure I yet believe that summer has actually fallen.

Final hours of the library sale today. It's stayed busy and lots of books have been claimed, but there are still a bunch left. This job has cured me of the desire to personally hold onto books I don't truly care about.

I'm still a huge supporter of books and reading and writing and all of it...but I'm not a supporter of hoarding 🙃

When allegations of abuse arise, particularly about a leader, many believe truth will “hurt” the church and so sin is excused, covered up, or given an innocuous name.  Such actions protect the institution, not the name or true body of Christ.

Amazing how rain can represent the verse "weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice." FIL farmer...weeping at the amount and timing. Rain loving Me... rejoice, rejoice, rejoice.

🌡️Yet another temperature record broken... As of 2:11 pm, Wichita just reached 90 degrees for the 102nd day this year. This breaks the previous record of 101 days set in 1954.

We served around 60 people at the library lunch today. I was hoping for at least 75, but really I didn't know what to expect at all...so, I'm very thankful for those 60 people who came out to support the library in this way, and it gives us something to build on.
