US DOJ charges five people in a “ghost student” fraud scheme that used stolen American identities to enrol fake students in colleges and steal federal student aid. The money was allegedly sent overseas through Kenyan-linked networks. More than $750,000 (Sh97.5 million) in cryptocurrency has been seized, in what the DOJ calls the first international seizure of its kind in Kenya.
