India AI startup ecosystem is starting to have a moment.
August was busy.
• At least 3 mega seed rounds coming together for research-forward companies
• 2-3 teams/founders relocating back from major US labs to build in India
• Half a dozen+ Series A/B/C rounds at significant step-ups
• Multiple companies crossing $10M ARR — and some already breaking through $30M
• 3-4 corporates now actively investing with significant strategic interest
• A few local PE firms increasingly moving earlier to lead Series A/Bs
And a lot of these are for India first AI plays rather than simply US exports.
Great to see the momentum, and still early in the grand scheme of things.
The best investor opinions I hear never leave the room.
Coffee-table conviction. No memo. No post. No trail.
Building a voice is closer to writing IC notes than to being “on.”

Often heard this question coined, and today I’m thinking about it: how do you stay nice to your team without becoming too soft, and firm without becoming bossy?
The answer is simple: care deeply, communicate clearly & hold the line on standards.
In startups, that balance matters even more speed needs clarity & growth needs accountability.
Be kind, be direct, and be real. Don’t fake it.
Leadership isn’t choosing between warmth & authority it’s building both naturally.
