How will the flower bloom in 2100? We collaborated with artist Annelie Berner to create a generative web tool that visualizes how the Circaea Alpina flower might evolve in response to future climate conditions. I've finally put together a v1 of full case study including info about data, algorithms, behind the scenes and whole look dev process. Video content to follow! #variablenature

I've seen so many of those ai generated meme dashboards last week. Compared to actual tool. How desperate those people are to farm likes. Pathetic.
I truly don't understand why nobody is using this setup graphify, a tool that turns any folder into a knowledge graph your agent can query, just passed 126k stars on github and got into Y Combinator. people stopped asking ai questions. they're giving it a desk, a memory and a job. you give Claude Code one folder, plug in your email, calendar and a browser, and it turns into an agent. it reads, remembers, acts, and checks itself before it does anything stupid. doesn't matter if you're a founder, a marketer or a student, you need this the full setup: > create a folder called AGENT, open Claude Code inside it and add a CLAUDE.md with one rule: "save every decision, person and project to memory/" > run npm install -g @googleworkspace/cli, then gws auth setup. now it reads your Gmail, Calendar and Drive > run claude mcp add playwright npx @playwright/mcp@latest. it gets its own browser to open sites, fill forms and pull data for you > run uv tool install graphifyy, then graphify install, then type /graphify .. everything in the folder becomes a knowledge graph it queries in seconds instead of digging file by file > run npm i -g jev-guard, jev-guard key "...", jev-guard install claude. a tiny model called Jev scores every action before it runs. rm -rf gets blocked, a poisoned email gets flagged, for about 4 cents per 1,000 checks > type /schedule and tell it "every morning at 7:30, send me what came in, what you drafted and what waits for my yes". from now on it works on a routine 15 minutes to set up, and you never start from a blank chat again. every repo is below: -> github.com/googleworkspace/c… -> github.com/microsoft/playwri… -> github.com/Graphify-Labs/gra… -> github.com/leepokai/jev-guar… bookmark this

Software factories vs Software gardens by @davidhoang "The goal is to build a living system around ideas. Capture what you learn. Keep the useful parts discoverable. Let conversations change the work. Prune what no longer matters.." describes process of discovery not prompt to (weak first idea) product like a lot of dev these days. open.substack.com/pub/davidh…

Copying never has been so easy. @ingi_erlingsson animations were super inspiring in recent months and boom now we have a tool "inspired" by it. Work hard, think hard, pour your soul and some lazy bum will prompt-"make it" it 1:1. "Great artist steal" assumed that skill and effort was still required. I'm already hearing stories of students hiding their work in deep Google Drive folders far from public eye. Will people stop posting here if everything is duplicated in 0s? Just look at the typography of new revision of @vanschneider 's blog. Brings joy in a way that you can't prompt. A prime example of "I care".
The new DESK is live! For over 15+ years I've been writing, reflections on design, psychology and building products. Over those years I published close to 1000 articles. Today I'm re-launching DESK as a personal archive of these essays, with the goal to keep writing till the very last day. Why the re-design? The old design felt too magazine like, too much like a publication that was trying to be something that it's not. It was holding me back to be more myself. The new design is more personal, more like an archive or register of all my essays. There are currently 688 essays accessible on the new DESK, many more still hidden and coming in the next couple days. I hope you like it (:

and here’s @mxsage’s lovely “36 points” running on this 60hz eink panel with the @Modostech glider driver board
here’s a quick demo of a macos writerdeck i’m throwing together with this 60fps eink display. you can see more of the ghosting in this demo, but i feel it works well enough for light typing and browsing.

Are we on a journey to automate the unthinkable? How do you describe something you haven imagined yet? Or would you rather create conditions to get you there based on you intuition? VA - I'm messing around with new logo for Variable that is build out of parts of Nodes logo signifying how much of our work depends on that tech (yep even in AI era). But it kind of looks like UN. Hence that unthinkable bit. Instanced catmul-clark vertices on a differential growth mesh are easy to label once seen. There is so much focus on prompting the final results without prompting the way to get there, when you don't know where "there" is.

Second half of @variable_io @dmnsgn will be doing a "Lightning Talk" Thursday at threejs.paris giving a quick insight into SpiritPlant our biggest project of last year. Come say hi! Multiple screens, multiple devices, interaction, generative design, GPU compute and more!

Back to Poland! I'm going to speak about brand algorithms and creative coding in design at GrafConf this week. What's the difference between branding based on algorithms compared to traditional design? How do you automate creation of assets without loosing control over the final outcome? What's our role once AI does big part of our daily tasks? + hard earned lessons and couple of cool demos and experiments I haven't shown before. Can't wait for Q&A and learning from others.

Do it for me. Do it for me. I don't wanna think. I don't wanna understand. Just do it for me. How about it teaches you those damn Blender shortcuts and shows you how to make a rocket? What about questioning your strategy asking you to defeat it before putting on slides? What if AI assumed you IQ is not 67 and start from there? No struggle. No effort. No learning.
This is GPT-6 Astra. Anything you can do on a computer, Astra can do for you. Fast.

Tbh, this just makes me sad. A comment on the post said it very good: I feel like its saying "what if we brought the instant gratification of doom scrolling and soul crushing emptiness it brings to all life?"

Unpopular opinion: Does not matter how much AI improves, Astra, Fable 6… anything done by AI without human judgment is AI slop, regardless of how impressive it looks today. The longest the AI models can work autonomously the more expensive the slop will be

Debug space. I've been a bit brain fried by AI code gen recently. Generating code is easy, deciding what to do with it is not. In those moments i return to past work reminding myself that I don't really enjoy the final outcomes as much as the process of wandering, exploring and fighting with the material. When on earth would you ask AI to generate overlapping cubes causing z-fighting and glitches on ZY plane. And yet they are so beautiful.
