When people raise concerns, what matters most is seeing action on the ground. The Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road is a case in point, with contractors back on site to rehabilitate this critical highway connecting Bulawayo, Hwange and Victoria Falls.
Through a US$400 million CBZ Infrastructure Bond, Government is mobilising financing for strategic road rehabilitation, with repayments ring-fenced against ZINARA collections. The scale of the challenge is significant: rehabilitating the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road alone has been estimated at around US$450 million.
This is the value of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): bringing Government and local financial institutions together to mobilise resources and accelerate infrastructure development. When public concerns translate into action, communities and businesses stand to benefit.
A listening government, private-sector partnerships and infrastructure that serves the people. That is development in action.
