"The world has one more sloth species in it than previously thought." Good! The world needs more sloths!
All these women scientists I've never heard of! Margaret Dayhoff. Jennifer Moyle. They made vital contributions, never heard of them. Feels like that in science and engineering I've only been told half of the story. Half at best, given they often weren't/aren't allowed to study.
But enough of the "virtue signalling" - time for ... The Guv'nor 🍔! That croissant will not keep me fuelled for the entire day!
Surprised not only how many kids are on #NewScientistLive festival, but also how clever their questions are! I wish I had such cool classmates when I was in school. The youth these days... are very smart! :)
Day 2 of #NewScientistLive. All filled up on coffee and croissants and ready for all the talks today.
Excellent first day at #NewScientistLive. Great talks, but it was also lovely just to be in the same room as so many other nerds! :) I promised myself I won't be buying anything today, but left with a piece of Chelyabinsk meteor!
Going to #NewScientistLive festival! Exciting! I already decided which talks I will attend long time ago, so today I only have a busy schedule to stick to and disfunctional TFL to get me there, fingers crossed.

I find it slightly odd that @Greenpeace will be one of the exhibitors on #NewScientistLive festival when they have a couple of notable anti-science policies. Is there a shortage of anti-science festivals?
I hope their stand isn't very close to @NuclearInst stand, who will also exhibit...
Current survival advice is water is priority, because rule of thumb is you can live 3 days without water, but 3 weeks without food. When we become proper space faring species, this rule of thumb will change to 3 min without oxygen, but 3 days without water.
"Some insects break down their flight muscles to save energy for reproduction, but they permanently lose the ability to fly." What a sad love story. 💘
Well, at least all the palm trees in London make more sense now. #Heatwave2022
