I disagree. Mothers don't need "breaks" from their children. In the same way a father never needs to take a break from providing for his family.
Pattern recognition is neuroticism
If you're a mom who reads this and your thinking is "ok but if they're not in bed on time that means their bedtime is off which means they'll be cranky in the morning which means they'll be hard to manage for the next few days until their schedule catches up and then and then and then" you are NEUROTIC, this is called "neurotic thinking," and the rx is 500mg of Chill Out, Baby, It's Not That Big Of A Deal
This is the ideal but I think for most women now (trying to have big families), they DON’T have any sisters, aunts, grandmas around helping.
So it just has to be the husband
If I did have a sister, mom, aunt around then I also would prefer the women handle the littles and the men be out with the older ones

I grew up in circles with large families. A father was never expected (nor did he ever) step in to help with toddlers. That's the job of an older sister, aunt, grandmother etc. In general, we believe that the care of young children belong to women except for extreme emergencies
how the fuck am I supposed to live in this house with no clothes in my room, nowhere to get ready, no place to put anything in the bathroom, no food storage, no rooms to put the separate napping children in
I feel so close to kms every freaking day. I can’t stand it.
Almost everything is difficult and frustrating here
Kids have to drag a chair from the dining room to the bathroom to brush their teeth or wash their hands, because there’s nowhere to put a step stool in the bathroom, and that’s the next closest room to do it
No dishwasher so our counters are always covered in dirty dishes or clean dishes and no room to cook stuff or be prepping stuff all day. Very claustrophobic feeling all the time even visually
No basement or pantry or closets to put food. I have to use a few makeshift shelves that can’t keep 1/5 of the food we’d normally keep around and available. Limits my ability to buy in bulk and save money / time.
The kids do not sleep well with each other. Constantly on different schedules or waking each other up and everyone is cranky.
the only closet is upstairs through a child’s room so if I want to put laundry away or in theory get ready/dressed (if I even had time to put a wardrobe together) then I can only do it during times the kids are A) awake and B) take the baby and toddler up with me and C) being able to prioritize that when both are not fussy and crying
Constantly SHUSHSHSHSHHSHSING everyone for 7 hours of the day is driving me insane and probably them too. I get fits of cortisol rage from the constant threat of the babies being woken up from sleep from the noise.
I’m seriously losing it

Oh apologies, I forgot you guys trust AI more than a medical doctor that told ME this.

When the topic of childcare comes up it always sounds so casual. We talk about the choice between going to work and leaving our children all day without us is just an easy choice without any serious implications and consequences. The way we talk about it makes it sound like mothers are just interchangeable with anyone else. That babies, well, they just adapt to whatever woman is placed in front of them.
But this is not true. Babies, and children, do not just need care, they actually need their mothers. Children need the same person every day, the same safe place that reminds them of the innocent darkness they once grew in. They need the same face, the same smell, the same smile of their mothers.
The world wants you to pretend that none of this matters, that babies are just resilient little creatures, and that mothers are simply and easily replaceable.
But mothers are not interchangeable. Thinking otherwise is why we more and more think of motherhood as unimportant. If anyone can do it, if anyone can raise all the children, then motherhood has become nothing more than wombs, mothering is nothing but just being producers of other humans,
And we all know this is not true.
