There is no more obvious example that the Premier & her Ministers are out of touch with Albertans struggling to make ends meet than the UCP:
✅ enjoying expensive boxes at playoff games which were…
✅ gifts from their friends who got rich selling them Turkish Tylenol which…
✅ Albertans couldn’t use but were forced to pay for anyways, while…
✅ the UCP does nothing to make life more affordable for them.
My goodness.
The revelations about multiple ministers, staff members, and the Premier herself attending playoff hockey games on lobbyists’ dimes should come as no surprise to Albertans given the level of cronyism shown by this government.
Last year, the Premier complained publicly that she wasn’t allowed to go to hockey games with lobbyists and proceeded to change the rules so that she could. So, it’s no surprise that her staff went to a game paid for by the company she awarded the nearly $100 million failed Turkish Tylenol scheme.
The whole point of the original ethics rules was to make sure that any gifts were reasonable and modest and that they were publicly disclosed as well as to ensure that no one can buy hours of uninterrupted access to politicians and staff. The changes the Premier made to those rules disregard all these principles, leaving the impression that government can be bought by anyone.
Having ministers and staff sit in lobbyists’ luxury boxes while we are facing an affordability crisis in this province not only looks bad, it shows they’re living in a different world than the average Albertan.
At the very least, the Premier must now:
➡️disclose all staff and politicians who have accepted tickets and from whom, as well as who paid for all travel.
➡️commit to an all-party process to strengthen ethics rules and disclosures, including removing the carte blanche for the Premier’s Chief of Staff to approve any gift of any amount.
➡️finally give us a full accounting of the Turkish Tylenol fiasco, including which lobbyists met with which politicians and staff.

“Alberta owes Mauro Chies, AHS’s former president and chief executive, $1.38-million in severance”
The person the UCP hired who was then fired by the UCP so they could blow up healthcare like planned to.
How was this possible?

Given that a government-commissioned report showed a Public Insurance Model (similar to BC, SK, and MB) could cut premiums by an average $732/yr, I am curious why so little has been done by @neudorf_ab to actually making life more affordable for Albertans? #abpoli #ableg

In a week, Albertans will lose access to Legal Aid. This means that vulnerable Albertans seeking legal assistance will no longer be able to retain legal counsel. It’s unconscionable that the UCP thinks Albertans needing these services should be left without any support.

Yesterday, the Minister of Municipal Affairs introduced amendments to Bill 20. The RMA was hopeful that the amendments would address the RMA’s concerns and protect local democracy. Clearly, this was not the case.

AB is last in education $$$. We need $1731/stdnt to reach the nat'l avg. That would add $1,731,000 to my school for more teachers, ed assts, occupation therapists, speech paths & mental health supports. Re-establish the AB Advantage. Invest in Public Education. #StopTheExcuses

Danielle Smith has done nothing but lie to Albertans. The UCP claimed they would not opt out of CPP in the election. They claimed an Alberta provincial police force was off the table. They have now moved on both.
This is a government who lied to Albertans to get their votes and is now proceeding with their separatist agenda.

Danielle Smith is proceeding with a plan to use $20 billion of Albertans’ money to clean up a mess that most of them had no hand in making
I would cancel her ridiculous RStar program and hand the bill back to those responsible. This was a deal — companies get access to resources, but they have responsibility to clean up after themselves. I will not allow the Alberta public to get stuck with this liability.
