Low pressure east of the Outer Banks still has a chance to develop subtropically as it rides the Gulf Stream north. Will continue to be a big swell and surf generator regardless of label...
This forecast: bottle it up and sell it! A few months ago, we were living in the "miserable" dew point zone.

Low pressure set to form off the Outer Banks is generating a worthy buzz, especially as its track may be erratic. For now I expect the low's main impacts to stay east of the Cape Fear Region, unless you count a persistent north breeze. We'll watch this feature all next week.
Windswept and colder raindrops on this First Alert Weather Day Saturday! Though the chances of rain will be high, rain rates will stay on the lighter to moderate side and there's no risk of severe storms.
80s... 60s... 50s... 40s... It's been a while since we've seen such a precipitous fall in temperatures!
First Alert: Saturday's cold frontal passage is looking even sharper and more amplified than before. Weird day, especially compared to the steady sunny, 80s cruise we'll have been on all week...
It's toasty enough today, and one, possibly two or three record highs may fall in the Port City later this week. While we watch to see if we make history, one thing is clear: this weekend's cold front is gonna slap!
Storms have settled, so it's temps that will bring the drama: warm / hot this week, cool / chilly this weekend.

All clear of severe! The National Weather Service has canceled the Tornado Watch for the Lower Cape Fear. We have received several tornado reports from Clarendon, East Arcadia, Atkinson, and Wallace. So far: some damage but no injuries (hopefully that doesn't change).
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for parts of the Lower Cape Fear. If you're in the warned area, seek shelter in a sturdy building, on the lowest level, and in an interior room.

This is interesting. There was a similar pattern of higher west side winds on the Cape Fear / Grand Strand in Hurricane Matthew — exactly ten years earlier.
Here's a preliminary look at peak wind gusts observed in association with the landfall of Hurricane #Isaias on Friday night. Multiple gusts topping 100 mph were recorded from Santa Rosa Island through the Pensacola area and northward.
You might note that the strongest winds were on the west side of the track -- not what we typically expect. This appears to be associated with the formation of something meteorologists refer to as a 'sting jet.' Isaias was in the process of transitioning from a tropical low to an extratropical low at landfall, and these sting jets are often associated with extratropical systems.
If you rode the storm out in the Panhandle and have any updates and/or pictures, please share them here. Wishing the best for everyone over there as the recovery process gets underway. @WAFB
