Because the kids are accurately assessing the state of the world they’re likely to inherit. I’m trying my best to insulate my kids from this realization but it’s likely only a matter of time.
Teens are telling their therapists they don’t believe there will be a world left for them when they grow up My family therapist told me therapists are talking about this with each other because none of them know what to say I can’t stop thinking about that

Columbia just showed a lot of "unresponsive" ICU patients were awake the whole time 41 patients with severe brain injuries, none could follow a single command They put a regular EEG cap on them(no implant, no surgery) and played a beep Patients were told to change the beep's pitch just by imagining opening and closing their hand About 1 in 3 did it. With their thoughts. A few days into the hospital Same team found hidden consciousness in ~15% of patients like this back in 2019, so the bedside exam has been missing people for years Next step is letting them signal pain or hunger. Families already asked for a loved one's voice to be built in Our kids won't believe we used to decide who was "gone" by asking them to squeeze a hand.

These massive data centres approvals will be one of the biggest mistakes in Australian history. On one of the driest continents on earth. Fresh water goes in .... pollutants come out. And the power they use is huge. Say NO before it's too late 😡

Help get @abdulelsayed elected to the senate! Jewish safety depends on a real multiracial democracy—and Abdul is the one fighting to protect it. Get involved and help at abdulforsenate.com/vote go.abdulforsenate.com We know how much it matters to live in a country where our rights are protected, where the law applies equally to everyone, and where the majority can’t just decide that some people don’t deserve the same freedoms. The safety and freedom we’ve found in America didn’t happen by accident. They exist because of democracy. And protecting democracy means protecting Jewish safety, too. We know what happens when those protections start to break down. When courts are weakened, elections are undermined, and people lose equal protection under the law, minorities are often the first to pay the price. Jews have seen this throughout our history. It’s one of the reasons so many of our families sought refuge in democratic countries. That’s why I find it so alarming to see what’s happening right now. When masked government agents are taking people off the streets and citizens are being shot in public, we should all be worried about where things are headed. As Jews, we know that when a government starts targeting certain groups of people, no one should assume they’re safe from what comes next. Mike Rogers has chosen to align himself with a movement that is willing to attack our democracy. He stood with Trump and refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. And now we’re seeing what happens when a political movement treats the rights and dignity of certain people as disposable. For Jews, these things should set off alarm bells. Jewish safety is tied to the health of our democracy. We can’t protect one without protecting the other. And in this Senate race, Abdul is the candidate who understands that and is willing to fight for it. #abdulelsayed #democracy #jewish #midterms

What was the long term plan, if the short term plan was to erase my existence?
🚨 The allegation that Sam Altman and OpenAI tried to squash any mention of his sister Annie from his @NYMag profile has now also been corroborated by Elizabeth Weil herself: "It was naive to think they could keep this hidden and everyone needs to adjust themselves to reality."

Lmfao. The more you increase, the more you drive people away. The costs of cleaning are suppose to be cover my the nightly rate you charge. Airbnb owners seem to think the nightly rate is suppose to be pure profit & they shouldn’t have any operating costs.
Sounds good, but now cleaners will have to be paid more and fees will go up. So not taking out trash, doing dishes is going to cost you more - and my guess is people would rather do 5-10 mins of cleaning than pay an extra $20.

Airbnb, like many Silicon Valley companies, was a concerted effort to disrupt the hotel industry and skirt unionized workforces. You don’t have to own the property. Customers pay you to do the work of union housekeeping! It made its founders very wealthy. I root for its demise
Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

Airbnb hosts are melting down over a new policy banning them from making guests complete tasks that “would typically be performed by a cleaner,” like “stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes.” Read the full story: buff.ly/GHU32S5

“The Simpsons” was a beloved animated sitcom that ran for ten legendary seasons and concluded in 1999. The show was celebrated for what was widely perceived as a near perfect run that wrapped before it wore out its concept and overstayed its welcome. Creator Matt Groening and showrunner James L. Brooks famously decided to bring the show to a conclusion after experiencing the negative audience reaction to the season 9 episode “The Principal and the Pauper,” in which it was revealed that the school’s principal was actually an impostor who had stolen the real Seymour Skinner’s identity. Brooks did not want to sully the show’s legacy by doing a bunch of weird episodes as the franchise slid into mediocrity and cultural irrelevance, so the writers and cast decided instead to go out on top and end things on a high note. However, because of its centrality in 90s pop culture, a long-running Internet joke is to pretend “The Simpsons” is still on the air, a premise that gets more absurd and deranged with each passing year. If this show were still producing new episodes, it would be in its 38th season now, and most of the voice cast would be in their 80s. The joke is to imagine how distorted this charming show would have become if it had been stretched out to more than 800 episodes. Comedy posters on “weird Twitter” used to try to top each other by making up terrible ideas for what modern episodes of the show might be like. For example, a viral 2012 tweet imagined an episode where Lady Gaga helps Lisa Simpson with her self esteem. In 2019, popular shitposter Megan Amram originated the premise of Bart Simpson becoming a men’s rights activist to protest a gender-swapped reboot of “Itchy and Scratchy.” But perhaps the most elaborate Internet “Simpsons” joke was a 2017 YouTube mockumentary “The Problem With Apu,” in which the comedian Hari Kondabolu ironically pretended to be offended by the charming and innocuous convenience store owner character Apu. Everyone thought this was hilarious, especially since the show had been off the air for nearly two decades when the mockumentary was released. So, Twitter ran with the joke by pretending to “cancel” Apu, and the viral gag memorably resulted in the character’s voice actor, Hank Azaria, recognizing the meme by promising never to perform the character again, which everybody thought was really funny since Azaria had been retired for years. Now, nearly a decade later, fans are pretending that the show — which has now been off the air longer than most people tweeting about it have been alive— has brought back the “cancelled” character with a new racially-appropriate voice actor. I actually don’t think this is that funny, and I kind of think the gag of pretending “The Simpsons” is still airing new episodes has overstayed its welcome, a mistake the actual show “The Simpsons” would never have made. If you haven’t seen this 1990s classic, which — and I cannot emphasize this enough — ended after 10 seasons in 1999, you can watch all the episodes on Disney+ (except the one with Michael Jackson that got pulled from streaming).
Apu has returned to The Simpsons. The character got a speaking appearance tonight for the first time in almost a decade, with Sunil Malhotra taking over the role.
