This is like 14 months belated but… at Rad Pride 2022 someone left a belt pack with us to mend, which we did, but the number you left with us didn't work. We waited to see if we'd hear from you, but never did. If this was yours, or you know the person it belongs to, let us know!

This Sunday! Come join us at Peninsula Park. We'll be focusing on sashiko mending methods, and sharing with/helping anyone who wants to learn! It's a great technique for jeans. We're no experts but we can all play with thread together. Please wear a mask—we keep us safe!

Come mend with us in the park this weekend! We'll be at Mt. Scott Park in SE from 4 to 6 on Saturday. Please wear a mask, we keep us safe. We'll have some darning tools & supplies and will be happy to show you the basics of darning holes. Great for socks!

We’re coming back to mend-together days in parks for the third year! On Saturday we’ll be in SE at Mt Scott, and we may have some kind of themed events this year, like teaching specific techniques or crafts, so let us know if there’s something like that you’d be interested in!

Forgot to mention, masks are strongly encouraged, but won’t be required when folks are sitting with people they came with or at tables where everyone is comfortable, since there are tables spaced far apart outdoors. Please bring one and wear it when nearby others!

Zine Sew a Soft Armor Carrier / Vest, text: This pattern is designed to be customizable to any size/shape of soft armor, easy enough for beginner sewers, and it only requires a few materials. It's very simple but can totally be upgraded if you are a more experienced sewist and have ideas! This zine/pattern is by Mending Bloc in Portland, Oregon.With help from Armor Bloc.Find us as mendingbloc on twitter & instagram, or at mendingbloc.carrd.co. Find Armor Bloc as armorblocpdx on twitter & instagram.Please distribute this freely, digitally and/or physically! These instructions are for if you source a set of soft armor pieces secondhand or surplus. After getting a billion zippers from @xea_xeandra and these canvas sheets from old cots from @mendingbloc I’m practicing my zipper sewing skills by making bags for unhoused neighbors. The 1st attempt is a mutant oversized clutch but I’m excited to try and improve on my design.

Zippers are tricky!! One of our least fave things to fix tbh 😑 but often fixable with pliers! If the teeth are coming apart after being zipped closed, it might be fixable by simply tightening the pull piece. If it’s sticky, it might be made smooth by rubbing on pencil graphite!
