Guys, it has been a *rough* run with people in the Christian community falling. You'd think at this point nothing would be surprising. I'm nonetheless shocked by this. Hopefully it is some kind of procedural confusion. I've been on the opposite side of Sey for a while on important issues but I'm still truly stunned.
Mr. @SlowToWrite may claim he isn't Black, or, if he is, that it's somehow trivial; but it seems that Butler county jail in the great state of Ohio says otherwise.

I have received a statement from DHS regarding Sam Sey: “On October 21, ICE arrested Samuel Sey, an illegal alien from Ghana, at the Columbus International Airport. Sey entered the United States legally in 2022 but overstayed his length of admission by over four years, in violation of our nation’s laws. Sey has no pending applications and accepted voluntary departure. He will remain in ICE custody until removed from the United States.   “We do not pick and choose which laws to enforce or where to enforce them.   “We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.” - DHS SPOX As I get more information, I will update.

It looks like @SlowToWrite overstayed his legal residence in the US by years. And apparently, he may not be legal in Canada either, as DHS has described him as "from Ghana." He is now voluntarily deporting. Does he deserve this? Yes. The difficulty for his family is on him - not our immigration laws, nor on his theological or political views. The GiveSendGo fundraiser's claim that he is a legal resident is false. Yet, he only "got what he deserved" in terms of his facing the legal consequences for his failure to follow immigration laws, not because his views or his color warrant removal.

Was rooting for this to turn out as an error on the gov't. side. As much as I dislike the turn Sey in recent years I take no joy in him falling into lawlessness.

Raul Malo is without a doubt one of the best country music vocalists ever, and most people have never heard of him. youtu.be/6D2XYOT5DIU?si=FpFx…
Help me out here. Been thinking about Top 5 greatest Country Music *vocalists.* Feel confident in the top 3: 1. George Jones 2. Randy Travis 3. Patsy Cline But 4 & 5? This is where I fall into preference I think. Merle? Keith Whitley? Verne Gosden?

Glad to read all the replies. A batch-response: 1. Lots of George Strait love. Appropriate. I'd say this - I'm talking about *vocalist*. Hank (Sr.), Strait, and Merle are my top 3 greatesr country artists as whole performers. Not convinced he's quite top 5 as a vocalist but do love his voice. Same with Hank. 2. Lots of Reba love too. That's a good call, too. She should probably be on the top 5 list.

The caliber of Robert E. Lee and the men around him is a marvel to behold.
“Look! There is Jackson standing like a Stonewall! Rally behind the Virginians!” These were the words of Barnard E. Bee, a South Carolina born Brigadier General for the CSA during the Battle of First Manassas in 1861. Moments later, Bee would be shot and killed, but his words would become almost immediately immortal. Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson would go onto become one of the most famous figures of the War Between the States, as well as one of the most respected Generals in the annals of war. His utter devotion to duty, aggressive maneuvers, and complete reliance on Christ and total surrender to God’s will has made him not only a military icon, but a Christian one as well. As a General- his strategies and maneuvers are still studied by military leaders and universities to this day. Additionally, Jackson had a unique ability to somehow march his men more miles than anyone else in either army, and there was actually a reason why. Contrary to the prevailing sentiment of the day, Jackson gave his men 15 minute breaks every hour or so, and gave them sugar cubes and other energy sources when available, which helped keep them fresh and outpace other units who marched continually without rest. This strategy of Jackson was far ahead of his time and paid off mightily for his Stonewall Brigade. As a Christian, Jackson was completely resigned to God’s will. When asked how he was able to say so relaxed in battle, he responded simply; “My religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death, I do not concern myself with that.” Jackson, like many in his time owned slaves. However, like many of his fellow Southerners (contrary to most modern historians), Jackson loved his slaves and felt personally responsible for the state of their souls. He funded a black Sunday school for both freed men and slaves, and continued to do so throughout the war up to his passing. Out of the 6 slaves he owned, 3 of them personally asked him to buy them, and took his name after his passing. Jackson was the ideal portrait of a Christian Solider, and one of the greatest men this country has ever produced.

My coworker spent one year in Tennessee. He came back to Tokyo two months ago. He is not the same man. He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss. He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning. He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down. He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO. He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far." He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole. Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you." She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes. We thought it would wear off. It didn't. It's spreading. Three people in accounting now say "y'all." The junior employee holds the door. The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going. Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him. Please do it to the rest of us.

The much harder question, it seems, is whether Spurgeon would be excluded from the SBC for his views on religious tests in government appointments.
"I routinely get asked whether it would be okay for a Christian to vote against a candidate simply because they are Muslim. My answer, put bluntly, is an unqualified 'yes.'" Co-sign, and there is nothing un-Baptist about this position.

This is the fruit of this kind of pastoral malpractice from fools like Yarnell. They make people feel comfortable doing their evil in public, and it corrupts the church. As pastors, we do bind consciences on clear evil. No to godless Leftism.

This is so true. It’s only pampered, elite ivory tower Baptist academics who are committed to liberalism that worry about hypothetical “persecution” from other Christians even while the Left is the real threat But the Billy Baptists are the real Baptists. And we speak for them
Replying to @merelyjwright
If you ask any billy Baptist at the potluck "is America a Christian nation?", they will say "yup" and then add another helping on their plate. They aren't afraid of other Christians.

“Presbyterians are going to inflict violence on you Baptists!“ Average Presbyterian:
Some of us Baptists live in an almost thoughtless, casual even, lack of fear about Presbyterian violence.
