Today, we celebrate the passage of the iconic Voting Rights Act. Congress needs to act to restore the full protections of the Act. canva.com/design/DAFIgHCOVFA…
Today, reflecting on Frederick Douglass’“What, to the American slave, is the 4th of July”. As we are reeling from the contraction of constitutional rights by #SCOTUS and January 6 insurrection hearings, can’t help but think that the country is at an historic moment of reckoning.
Proud to be in the company of democracy fighters like Evan Milligan who put his name on the line for voting rights. In October, SCOTUS will be hearing his case which will determine whether AL will be allowed to dilute the Black vote in violation of the VRA as it stands today.
One day after SCOTUS once again took away a fundamental right to body autonomy, honored to in Shelby County, AL with partners such as the AL NAACP, fighting to keep voting rights at the forefront of our consciousness and advocacy. #restoretheVRA #RestoreRoe
Getting ready to rally with great partners in AL to bring attention to the need for a restored, strong VRA. Our democracy needs it today more than ever.
A great way to spend my Saturday; celebrating Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson at a block party observing her historic confirmation. A ray of sunshine in the dark days of our democracy. #JusticeKetanjiBrownJackson #SCOTUS #SheWillRise
What a momentous day. Was great being a part of a rally to celebrate a milestone that is hundreds of years overdue. #ConfirmJudgeJackson
Was delighted to meet Her Excellency Linda Thomas-Greenfield today at #BWRSummit2022. At a time when there are so many diplomatic challenges in the world (her purview), she took the time to be with us, sharing the wisdom of her experience and expertise.
Feeling great about the future when I get to hang out with great young organizers like @armanieady
It was a very good day being in community with amazing women, including my shero @coalitionbuildr. #BWRSummit2022
So proud of the work she is doing at the DOJ.
So much wisdom being shared at #BWRSummit2022. Great way to celebrate Women’s History Month. So glad we can get back together this year.
Great to see my former boss, Ass’t AG @KristenClarkeJD, (am so proud of the work she is doing) at #BWRSummit2022. It is fantastic to hear about what a rejuvenated DOJ is doing to ensure racial justice.
Heartened to be here in Selma, AL honoring the brave men & women who fought for voting rights in 1965 and are continuing the fight. @LawyersComm is proud to be in the fight with them. #footsoldiers #letscontinuethefight
This morning @LawyersComm testified about the need for legislation against voter suppression. This afternoon we are testifying about the impact that false and unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud have on access to the ballot. homeland.house.gov/activitie…
This is our Charles Hamilton Houston/Thurgood Marshall moment. We will not stop insisting that the Senate does its job and pass voting legislation to ensure voters are protected against discrimination. nytimes.com/2022/01/19/us/po…
The fight for voting rights continues. @LawyersComm testifying now about the impact of no action from Congress. #RestoretheVRA

My microwave is broken and as I am waiting to get it fixed, I am struggling to remember how we used to heat food up in the "olden days".
On this #MLKDay really feeling the fierce urgency of now. Very day needs to be a day of action until Congress acts on voting rights and #RestoretheVRA.
Decades ago, the U.S. Supreme Court said that the right to vote is preservative of all other rights. Everything is at risk when you take away the voice of the people in a democracy. We need a democracy where every vote and every voice is counted. #ProtectVotingRights
