Fun fact: If the SEC would have remained at eight conference games this season, Texas would still currently have two SEC losses.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said the SEC "put the cart before the horse" in going to a nine-game conference schedule during the 12-team College Football Playoff era. The league is cannibalizing itself like never before, which could create CFP complications on selection day.

punished in the rankings? there are five teams in the rankings with two losses and they are all from the SEC. do you just publish stuff without researching them Mike?
Lane Kiffin continues to make a strong case against the SEC's move to nine conference games. More losses, more beat-up teams and less roster depth in the transfer portal era. His biggest point? SEC teams are being punished in the rankings for playing tougher schedules. Hard to argue with him on this one.

Punished in the rankings for losing? 1) There are FIVE 2-loss SEC teams actively ranked. No other conference even has ONE 2-loss team ranked, while the SEC has FIVE. Then Ole Miss (with a 24-point loss) is ranked ahead of undefeated teams like Texas Tech. They’re NEVER punished in rankings. 😂 2) Even if they were punished… (which they should be because the schedules aren’t nearly has hard as they complain about), you mean like how the PAC-12 was when they cannibalized their top teams and missed the 4-team CFP for 6 straight seasons? You mean the same exact thing that the Big 12 dealt with for years?

Imagine thinking wins over formerly ranked opponents are better than wins over currently ranked opponents.

Wake Forest was not a ranked opponent. Currently ranked is not the same thing.

Zero reason to actually support Georgia being ranked above Utah. Common opponent is proven factual data. “Tougher schedule” and “better team” is an opinion “uTaH pLaYeD nObOdY” well Georgia just lost at home to a nobody – at Clemson, SC
Utah is undefeated. Georgia lost to unranked Auburn at home. The two share a common opponent: Utah beat Arkansas by 33. Georgia beat Arkansas by 28. Why is 1-loss Georgia ranked 5 spots ahead of undefeated Utah?

Literally the future of College Football 🗑️
No reason to be concerned about Texas right now, still think they’re safely in the CFP as a No. 22 or 23 seed.

Glad Clemson was dominant in the best time of college football. The 4 team era from 2014-23 was elite. And we pretty much were in for 85% of it.
