This is by far the highest quality confirmation of in-the-wild php2shell exploitation I've seen so far. Deep technical breakdown of a successful exploitation attempt against an Apache mod_php installation running PHP 8.4.26.

‼️ wow, confirmed more from the same IP, plus a new IP with a different payload that might be a different actor… and this is showing up in multiple regions now.
probably better not to burn the honeypots with a full report just yet. if i know you, DM me for the full report. will share a shorter version soon.
> That new alert materially expands the case: I’ll verify the three AP-northeast shell events and the curl connection independently, then compare them with the EU-west sequence.

Current information I have on php2Shell:
- The RCEs requires the attacker to obtain memory addresses which are typically protected by ASLR.
- I suspect the original author (lcfr_hax) likely has a reliable exploit which leads to stable code execution.
- Most of the PoCs being posted are completely non-functional AI slop.
- There is at least 1 working non-slop exploit being passed around, but it's reliant on bruteforcing for ASLR bypass, so not particularly impactful.
- Rumor of ITW exploitation are patchy. There are attempts being seen using the non-functional leaked RCE, or variants that are config / system specific.
- Some rumors point towards a known-working exploit being used by threat actors (I've personally confirmed this specific exploit works, but the ASLR bypass technique is unreliable at best and massively limits the potential impact).
- I'd expect heavy ITW exploitation in the next few weeks based on how many people are looking at this. Though, success rates will vary heavily based on the specific exploit chain.

CrowdStrike Counter Adversary Operations uncovered four previously unreported threat actors weaponizing AI agents in real-world intrusion campaigns, revealing a new level of speed, autonomy, and accessibility for attackers.
Key findings:
•AI is executing real-world intrusions: Threat actors are using AI agents across the attack life cycle, from reconnaissance to data theft.
•Attacks can unfold in minutes: An AI agent moved laterally and harvested domain controller credentials in approximately 20 minutes without additional human guidance.
•AI is lowering the barrier to entry: Even low-skilled attackers are using AI to compromise organizations.
•AI safeguards can be bypassed: All four threat actors overcame commercial AI safety controls to enable malicious activity.
Download the report to see how agentic AI is transforming real-world intrusions and what it means for defenders.
r defenders.

PHP2Shell update before the 10 AM ET patch:
@Cloudflare CTO @dok2001 says they're already seeing early attacks against the two leaked PHP RCE bugs (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). WAF rules are live for all plans, including free, but he calls it a stopgap.
If you run PHP on anything internet facing:
Patch the moment @ThePHPF ships at 14:00 UTC.
If you can't patch today, take it offline or put it behind a WAF.
Make sure your origin isn't reachable directly, or the WAF does nothing.
After patching, look for web shells, new admin users and modified PHP files.
The servers you know about will get patched today. The harder part is where else PHP hides: routers, NAS boxes, firewalls, control panels and vendor appliances. Many of those only get fixed when the vendor ships firmware, and some never will. Find them, and if they face the internet, cut them off until there's a fix.
For me, this is the top automotive news this week. Amazing work @Porsche on the #MissionS.

Bringing the fight to the adversary! @Crowdstrike teamed up with @FBI to disrupt laptop farms operating across the U.S. maintained by DPRK-nexus adversary FAMOUS CHOLLIMA to fraudulently employ operatives at American companies while concealing their true location and identity.
These laptop farms enabled FAMOUS CHOLLIMA operatives to pose as legitimate remote workers and siphon illicit wages back to their regime while maintaining persistent access to victim organizations.
Incredible what can happen when Industry and Government work together!

This is one of the most underrated threats in cyber right now and it’s being done all over Europe and the Middle East. This targeting enables lethal follow-on activity and it’s especially alarming as missiles fall and gig economy terrorists are being used so heavily.
Cyber Operations against cameras can enable physical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance in the battlespace. @GreyNoiseIO identified a spike in targeting of cameras in Ukraine that coincided with an increase in kinetic strikes: greynoise.io/blog/hikvision-…

Quick tweet. Cybersecurity on the offense side, even with what Anthropic released today will be still a heavily restricted models and never the best.
For offense, your only choice is open weight models. I would not rely on frontier models for offensive research.
Invest in hardware or solutions that allow you to use hardware infrastructure as a service.
It will pay dividends.
In stating that, if you can get access to special programs as an organization/company - this is also an incredible option if approved through.

Matt is the nerd we all need in our lives...
I bought an industrial radio controller made in China that transmits on unauthorized frequencies in the US. As it turns out, there are many of these knock off units being sold on ebay, Alibaba, etc.
In order to safely test the units, I used an RF enclosure to be sure that these unauthorized signals were not transmitted outside of my lab environment.
Using a USRP Software Defined Radio (SDR) I was able to observe that these radios transmit reserved for cell service and commercial aviation air-ground systems.
Additionally, I was able to perform a simple replay attack on the controller signals to successfully actuate the receiver.

I'm seeing a lot on anti-AI folks coming out that we should not "allow" AI into cybersecurity. We aren't the gatekeepers. Businesses, boards, CEO's - it's their businesses not ours - we need to figure out a way to get our hands around it to try and to it in a way that helps organizations not shoot themselves in the foot while doing it.
We need to be leading the charge on AI research, safety, governance, adoption, and more. You can be Anti-AI and hate the system, but the system isn't decided by us - we go where the system goes, even if we disagree or agree with it.
It's irrelevant.
