Biology doesn’t change at the border.
Autism risk does not depend on the flag printed on a vaccine schedule.
What matters is exposure biology:
•antigen load
•timing
•cumulative dose
•developmental windows
Those are measured by large birth-cohort and registry studies that follow children from birth using medical records — the right design for outcomes diagnosed years later.
Arguing about schedule labels is a distraction.
Causation lives in mechanisms, dose–response, and replication — not semantics.

YOUR ATTENTION:
🚨Every new COVID-19 (re)infection elevates your cardiovascular risk profile. Even mild cases can raise the odds of a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and other CV events for months to years afterward. Risk is higher with more severe illness, yes, but it’s certainly not limited to severe disease. Updated vaccination will show some mitigation(infection severity↓) but doesn’t give you a risk-free pass!

I don’t think I have been pulled in so many different ways by so many different things at the same time. It is going to be a bumpy week.
Just had to diffuse a meltdown by our 13 year old charge. He is taller than me and weighs more than me. ADHD, ASD, PTSD combines almost daily into a unwanted storm.

How tragic! And how disgusting that those in the media who hunted him are now silent about this finding.
For weeks, some racist Western media outlets published story after story against Professor Jason Arday, at times every few hours, branding him a plagiarist. They hounded him relentlessly, and the pressure became too much for him. He committed suicide in August, aged just 41.
This week, he was cleared of plagiarism yet again. A fresh investigation by the academic publisher Taylor & Francis found nothing to support the allegations. Of the four formal investigations into his work, not one substantiated the charge.
The same publications that hunted him are now silent. They have not corrected their reporting, and they have not had the decency to admit they were wrong.
This is how hard it is to be Black in a deeply racist world, and to succeed where they expect you to fail. Even those who present themselves as the moral conscience of the Western world have nothing to say.
In a shameful act, the Oxford Reform Society has invited Nathan Cofnas, the self-described "race realist" who first raised the plagiarism allegations against Professor Arday, to speak at Oriel College next month. Oriel College, the home of Cecil John Rhodes’ statue.
These institutions are racist. Sadly, Black leaders have failed to build rival institutions that give Black people respect and intellectual dignity.
We are forced to endure disrespect because our leadership has failed us completely. Black billionaires line up to hand money to these institutions in exchange for meaningless honorary titles, instead of building our own.
May Professor Arday's soul rest in peace. You were hounded to your death by publications that today do not even have the shame to admit they were wrong.
We are never promised a certain amount of time in this world. None of us knows how many days we have left. What matters is not how long we are here, but what we do with the time we are given, the lives we touch, the love we share, and the difference we leave behind.

A little #flu update from the United States of America. You may have seen the news reports that the US has kicked off its season early. Confirmed! It has. Much like the 2009 pandemic flu, A/H1N1, which also started early.

Most people know Dr. Peter Hotez from his television appearances during COVID, his defense of vaccination, and the relentless attacks directed at him on social media.
I know Peter as a friend. And I want to tell you about another part of his life that rarely enters those arguments.
For more than four decades, Peter has devoted much of his scientific career to diseases that afflict some of the poorest people on Earth. Diseases that cause enormous suffering but attract relatively little commercial investment because the people who need treatment often cannot afford to pay for it.
Hookworm. Schistosomiasis. Chagas disease. Leishmaniasis.
These are hardly household names. Their victims rarely make headlines, and the scientists working on them seldom become celebrities.
Peter chose this field long before COVID, long before the cable news appearances, and long before strangers began calling him a pharmaceutical industry shill.
His career deserves a closer look.
Because the work tells a story that is almost entirely absent from the accusations made against him.

"Look at us, it says, aren’t we clever?”
This is the end of a post on the 6,000 miles from civilisation blog I read in August 2016. It nicely wrapped up a spookily familiar-feeling discussion I'd had about the same topic.

Who should be the next James Bond?
Jack Lowden has the qualities needed to make James Bond compelling again: intelligence, restraint, physical credibility and an underlying sense of danger.
His performance in Slow Horses demonstrates that he can be vulnerable, resourceful and dangerous without relying on exaggerated toughness. He could deliver a Bond closer to the character Ian Fleming originally imagined.

This is a lovely read for me. Vain-glorious I know, but it’s remarkable when reviewers come, let alone are open to me. Thank you. X
