Since Opus 5.5 I'm back on Claude, after being a Codex fanboy since day one. Before that Claude Code fan boy since day 1.
However Codex app UI is still superior to Claude Desktop @ajambrosino . Now I'm working with the Claude CLI again (for diff reasons). It's terrible in terms of productivity.
@thsottiaux When new models/ usage that beat Opus 5.5?

Introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, it's a big jump over Argon which we released just 2 weeks ago.
Gemini 4 Carbon is SOTA on cyber, long horizon tasks, ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis V5, significantly improves on usability in domains like coding, and is more aligned.

Next step: Longevity and Rejuvenation. We are almost there.
Researchers in Bonn turned blood cells from an 80-year-old into neural stem cells with a molecular age below 20. More than 60 years younger by epigenetic clocks, which estimate age from chemical marks on DNA.
The team directly reprogrammed blood precursor cells into neural stem cells, skipping the usual pluripotent stem cell stage. The rejuvenation unfolded gradually and could be tracked for over 100 days.

Security called me at 6:12 AM today.
"Patch every PHP server immediately."
I asked what happened.
"Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required."
Cool.
How many PHP servers do we have?
According to inventory: 12
According to reality:
Nobody knows.
We found one running WordPress.
Three running old internal tools.
One under someone's desk.
Two inside vendor appliances.
A forgotten employee directory from 2016.
And a server named:
PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH
Naturally, that one runs payroll exports.
Then we found a PHP 5.6 box.
I asked who owned it.
The documentation said:
BRIAN.
Brian left in 2019.
We called Brian.
He said:
"Oh wow, that's still running?"
Excellent.
By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call.
CEO:
"Can hackers actually get in?"
Security:
"Potentially yes."
CEO:
"Without a password?"
Security:
"Yes."
CEO:
"Then why do WE need passwords?"
Not the lesson.
Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue.
Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers.
Finance asked for a cost comparison.
At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline.
Marketing refused.
"Our campaign is live."
So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover.
We finally patched everything we could find.
Then our scanner discovered another PHP server.
Hostname:
TEMP-PHP-2014
Uptime:
4,512 days.
Nobody knows what it does.
Nobody owns it.
Nobody can shut it down.
But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels.
Security has classified it as critical infrastructure.
It is running PHP 5.4.
The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees.
The emergency patch took four hours.
Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven.
The internet isn't held together with code.
It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

Two classes extremely bad cyber vulnerabilities disclosed in the last 24 hours. The first potentially impacts everyone online. The second impacts nearly everyone running a server.
tl;dr: Everyone should upgrade their OS and Browser as soon as possible. If you run a server you should upgrade PHP (or ensure itβs removed if youβre not using it) as soon as possible.
The first class of vulnerabilities is a set of root TLS certificates that were discovered to have a trivial private key. Literally the number 4. These roots were controlled by #eMudhra. The problem is that with that an attacker could create a certificate and, if they could get in the traffic flow, intercept traffic to any site or service. The solution is to stop trusting certificates issued by these vulnerable roots. Upgrading your browser and OS is the fastest way for most Internet users to do this.
The second class of vulnerabilities doesnβt apply to most consumers directly, but does apply to most anyone running a server. These vulnerabilities have been dubbed #php2shell. PHP is one of the most widely used web programming languages. Itβs estimated 70% of websites run on PHP. These vulnerabilities allow an attacker to send a crafted set of queries to a server running PHP and potentially take over the server. From there they could potentially read, modify, delete, or repurpose anything on the server. The solution is to upgrade PHP to the latest version ASAP. Even if youβre not using PHP for your web development, itβs often included by default. So make sure it is either upgraded or fully removed.
@Cloudflare received advanced warning of both of these classes of vulnerabilities. Weβve ensured that where we act as a proxy we are no longer trusting the vulnerable roots. We are also reviewing certificate transparency (CT) logs for any sign the vulnerability was exploited before its disclosure. We have not found any evidence but CT logs are not perfect and a sophisticated attacker who knew about the weakness could have exploited it without a new certificate being logged.
For the PHP vulnerabilities, we have deployed mitigations available for all customers for free. Because of the complexity of the vulnerabilities and number of ways it can be exploited, we also released new WAF capabilities that are unique in the industry to catch the exploit based on the response. These too are available for every Cloudflare customer for free.
Even if you are taking advantage of Cloudflareβs protection, it is important to upgrade your OS, browsers, and PHP installations as soon as possible. We can provide a strong bandaid, but the best protection is to fix the underlying problem.

Europe's best climates and where to find them, updated.
Calabria FTW, Sicily not so much... Cyprus is surprisingly out because of very hot summers. Madeira and the Canary Islands remain near perfect, of course.
This is the accurate data, with stricter parameters. Apologies for the mix-up: I was on mobile all day and crossed the order of the maps. I meant to publish a comparative 2000-2020-2050.
Not too bad, but still, this is the one truly on point

Spent years watching models ace a single image and completely whiff on anything that moves or changes angle. Today weβre fixing that.
Try Glimpse now, our first visual thinking model with competitive frontier performance compared to Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks.
Crap, i synced my X with Grok account and now I suddenly have to pay extra for Grok research in X (Export mode).
It used to have free allowance
@grok or is this because i have an "old" premium account and i should switch to the "new" X/ Grok subscription and kinda pay the same?
in my own internal aviation AI benchmark nothing beats Gemini 3.8 in terms of pass rate, speed, price.
Not even gpt-6.1 sol which is considered IQ/price/efficiency king.
Meanwhile for coding myself i only use OpenAI/Claude, but gemini just works good for production apps
