This junior engineer’s tweet has gone super viral claiming AI could kill us all. Few details of how! But I reviewed a book claiming exactly that by two of the most prominent “AI safety” advocates.
If that book is the best case for the Doomer position, I’m not worried. 1/

One of the best Dolly tributes I’ve seen.
Dolly Parton somehow stayed 25 for 55 years, built an empire in rhinestones, loved God without weaponizing it, welcomed everybody, gave back endlessly and made being kind look powerful. ❤️
Ultra feminine. Business savvy. Inclusive. Faithful. Funny. Generous. Completely Dolly.
There will NEVER be another one. Rest beautifully, Dolly. 🕊️💎

Paused it for research & debated if it’s missing a handful of milestones. Overall? Extraordinary. Highly recommended. 🪁⚡️#America250

The City of Millington has officially received the outstanding back rent payment for the Shelby County Clerk’s Millington office.
We are grateful to Shelby County @MayorLeeHarris’s administration, especially Chief Harold Collins, Deputy Chief LaSonya Hall, the @ShelbyCoTN Division of Public Works, and the Shelby County Commission, particularly Commissioner Mick Wright.
Commissioner @mickwright has been a consistent advocate for working collaboratively with the City to resolve this matter and holding the Clerk accountable.

Today, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of a truly remarkable man — Former Sheriff William “Bill” Oldham, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Sheriff Oldham dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community with unwavering integrity, courage, and compassion. He was more than just a lawman — he was a leader with a heart for people, a role model of ethical conduct, and a steady hand in times of crisis. Having led two of this community’s largest agencies – the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Oldham was elected to two terms as Sheriff, as well as being honored by his peers at the TN Sheriff’s Association as Sheriff of the Year. He mentored and supported his Chief Deputy, now Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr., as well as MPD leaders and many others. His love of children led him to coach and use the Sheriff’s Office to fight for incarcerated youth, refusing to give up on them. He set a standard that others could only hope to follow, always leading by example and treating everyone he encountered with fairness and respect.
Beyond the badge, Sheriff Oldham was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love for his family was evident in everything he did — the stories he shared, the pride in his voice, and the values he instilled.
Our community has lost a pillar — someone who gave his all not for recognition, but because he truly cared. He believed in justice, in doing the right thing even when it was difficult, and in building a safer, better place for all of us.
Sheriff Oldham leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. His impact lives on in the lives he touched, the people he helped, and the example he set for generations to come.
Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. offered the following remarks:
“I was deeply saddened to hear that former Shelby County Sheriff Bill Oldham passed away earlier today. On behalf of all the men and women of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, I offer my prayers and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Memphis and Shelby County. We are truly heartbroken.
The law enforcement deputies, corrections deputies, and civilians of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were proud to serve under this loyal gentleman, who dedicated himself to public service. He was a true leader, a man of utmost integrity, and an unwavering advocate for Memphis and Shelby County.
I had the pleasure of serving under Sheriff Oldham as his Chief Deputy. I will never forget his wise counsel, along with his unwavering commitment and dedication to law enforcement. He was a true leader and a great public servant, and he will truly be missed.”
