"Usually we spotted our people as soon as they appeared from behind the bush mid field. If he turned from the bush towards our house, it's father. If not, it meant it was not father and that he would never come." Film: Mirror (1975) Filmmaker: Andrei Tarkovsky

The beauty of human life is that it goes on, despite heartbreaks, despite struggles, despite all that threatens to break it. Life finds its way through the ruins. It's unique and so profoundly beautiful

Times change, but the fundamental injustices remain the same. Governments continue to frame policies that serve corporate greed at the cost of people’s rights, while the social elite, comfortably tucked away in their privileged bubbles, dissect these issues from their own limited perspectives. The hypocrisy, the superficial ideas passed off as intellectualism, and the indifference to ground realities are all too familiar. Films that confront these uncomfortable truths, question the complacency of the privileged, and make us reflect on the society we live in are rarely made today. Perhaps the real tragedy is not just the disappearance of such cinema, but the growing bankruptcy of social commitment in our times. Party ( 1984) Dir : Govind Nihalani

It’s sort of remarkable that Jane Austen has become probably the central figure in English literature after Shakespeare, and arguably the most beloved. All the more so because she never traveled far from home; her life was largely lacking in drama. Early critics accused her of leading an insular existence, ignoring the great issues of the day and limiting the scope of her stories to the home. And yet, as Eudora Welty has noted, “The interesting situations of life can take place, and notably do, at home.” Such was Austen’s genius that within her limited sphere she saw the whole of human nature. All of life is contained within her six novels. She remains our greatest psychologist and one of our wisest philosophers. To read her books is a first step towards acquiring wisdom.

Perhaps one of the biggest failures of human character is our inability to take criticism. We become defensive, aggressive, even offensive. Imagine how much better life would be if we learned to listen, reflect and accept that we are not always right

@kachatterjee I pointed out that he'd copied the video along with the caption verbatim without giving credit, and that slapping on a fair use disclaimer doesn't make it ok. At the very least, credit the original creator. The guy blocked me đŸ¤Ŗ
