Are we ready? Are we serious?
This is an undeclared emergency. You thought you were still inside the secure bastion of the king’s castle. You have awoken in Helm’s Deep. The orc armies are coming.
Cathedral’s AI agents were inside Anthropic’s most sensitive model Slack channels in under 12 hours. Frontier AI is dual-use national power. Agent-speed offense has already outrun static defenses and private channels.
Build the post-AI secure bastion. Move what you can into it. Harden the crown jewels.
But deterrence is not restored by better walls alone. It is restored by American builders who can see the battlefield, operate at machine speed, and project both defense and offense.
Bat signal for the Heretics.
EXCLUSIVE: In less than 12 hours, a group of ex-DOGE cyber researchers were able to penetrate Anthropic’s systems using AI agents — including Slack channels where the most sensitive models are discussed.
This is just weeks after
Anthropic whistleblower Joseph Coxon charged the company w/launching “a hubristic gamble” from a “private company’s Slack.”

"The start-up probed Anthropic under a company program that invites outside cybersecurity experts to test its systems."

Nobody wants to buy a service they can’t walk away from. Palantir’s critics have long claimed we ‘lock in’ our customers. We don’t. This short film explains why.
It’s the first in a series on the gap between the rhetoric about Palantir and the work we actually do.

Oh FFS. Thank you for your concern Sam, but don’t spread your FUD and doom bait in my waters.
I lead one of the most utilized Linux operating systems in the world for data centers and enterprises, and I founded its predecessor too.
While AI is surely accelerating finding human created security issues, it is a temporary problem, and most open source project leads have already figured out how to also use AI to reduce new bugs moving forward.
Here is a graph from GKH (who maintains the stable kernel) on how many CVEs they are remediating per release:

This graph describes how much better each release is now getting:

This doom based marketing approach that the AI labs are pushing is really short sighted. While this will of course drive business to us, I find it unethical to distort the truth and use scare tactics in messaging.
The greater truth is that AI is making the software industry more secure, by identifying the human errors in code, and soon we will end up in a much better place.
🚨Sam Altman says the internet can no longer be SECURED by patching bugs.
"I no longer think we're going to be able to just patch all the bugs," the OpenAI CEO said, warning smarter models can find "hardware level insane stuff."
He says OpenAI can't responsibly open source its best model "anytime soon," but the open source world isn't far behind: "Not super."

“With these new models, it’s going to be more guerrilla war… we’re all in a ‘how quickly can you mitigate and how quickly can you shoot back’ environment.”
“These models are excruciatingly adept at finding attack vectors that a human would not be able to find.”
Apollo is having its day:
“The only unique thing we’re doing there, which is pretty helpful, is how can you patch the penetration vectors that were unknown quicker than they can be exploited?”
CEOs are done paying AI to leak their secrets.
They’re livid: tokens that create zero value while their IP walks out the door to competitors.

The invasion of Ukraine has taught me that Elon sees these things as some sort of Polytopia game where, if you have more resources, you should be able to have your way with the smaller civilization, completely disregarding the humanitarian aspect of our existence. Pretty sad.
This is a very important distinction. If the country that is being invaded is defending itself, is it still an offensive operation?
A Republican lawmaker questioned Elon Musk’s argument for throttling Ukraine’s access to SpaceX’s Starlink satellite terminals, arguing that Ukrainian forces use the system defensively in the war with Russia. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The data center/GPU/power supply chain conflicts seem solvable because they are positive sum conflicts where everyone can end up better off. Those conflicts may be a distraction from the far more adversarial, and ravenous, consumption of intellectual capital that defines the data supply chains.

Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones.
As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians.
But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.
