yes indeed but at the same time they continue to expand coal for the time being because they require more energy year on year and some of it is coal and some of it from renewables.

The strongest evidence for a Universe before the Big Bang There are cosmic fluctuations that we can unambiguously detect on scales much larger than the cosmic horizon. Without something, like inflation, before the hot Big Bang, this is inexplicable. bigthink.com/starts-with-a-b…

As we head into a new year , the sun seems to be getting less and less active. Are we heading to a grand solar minimum and what impact will this have on the climate. A superb blog post on this topic can be found here: rookandalus.com/blogs/2018/1…

Why should you follow climate scientists on twitter? Because you'll learn important things - like why geoengineering is not the cure-all some suggest it may be. Follow John and 1794 more of us here: xitter.cf/KHayhoe/lists/scientis…
In some groundbreaking CESM-WACCM geoengineering simulations put together by my colleagues at @NCAR_CGD, stabilizing surface temp interestingly fails to accompany stability in either Earth's energy imbalance or polar ocean temps. nature.com/articles/s41561-0…
