The insensitivity some Ghanaians display in the face of tragedy is appalling. A father has lost his son, Javits Frimpong, to gun violence in a foreign land, Bronx, only to learn of his death when the hospital pronounced him dead. Yet you hop on a TikTok live sensationalizing his marital and family history, while others are here blame him for bringing his son from Ghana to the Bronx instead of holding the assailant and his parents accountable. The part I can’t stomach is they have the audacity to justify their insensitivity when called out for their appalling timing and lack of empathy
I feel like the boy tried to resist being bullied by manning up to those boys, and they eventually got rid of him with the gun.
Javits Frimpong 15, lost his life in the Bronx while on his way to school. His father says he had repeatedly complained about being bullied.
Some of these boys have such deep-seated insecurities and low self-esteem that making others feel small is the only way they feel powerful. Ganging up on people is how they compensate for the emptiness within themselves. Designer clothes and a borrowed gangster image cannot disguise that insecurity. Bullying is not toughness, intimidation is not strength, and a child’s life is not a price anyone should pay for someone else’s fragile ego
