checks calendar doubled ARR again
We crossed $200M ARR last week, doubling from $100M in April.
Runway is the world model company. We power the daily work of more than 60 million creators and 95% of the Fortune 100. From award-winning films and ad campaigns to real-time media applications to generalist robotics. Our largest customers are increasingly licensing our frontier models directly.
As we expand our research in robotics, the wonderful team from Kinetix, a Paris-based research lab, is joining Runway to help drive our efforts there.
Proud of the team for getting us here. Back to building the universal world simulator.

Runway turned eight years old this week. We started at a time when generative models were a research curiosity, and had to figure out how to run an AI company from first principles. Growing this organization has been one of the biggest joys of my life.
Below is a short note that I sent the team:
Thank you for the kind words, everyone. The reality is, as convenient as it might be to portray otherwise, the Runway of today looks nothing like the Runway of 2018. And that's by design. We didn't know we'd be focusing on video, let alone pretraining video models at scale, let alone pursuing world models. It's a convention to rewrite the origin story to fit the present. But this company is all about breaking conventions, so let's do away with that one too, shall we?
So then, what is Runway about? I think Runway is a story about betting on people. By far the most gratifying moments of my time here have been watching people get an opportunity and then prove themselves far beyond what anyone expected.
The person with zero publications who became one of the most important researchers in the community. The person who barely spoke in meetings and became one of the best managers in the company. You know who you are.
And it's the three of us too: Alejandro, Cris, and me. Three people from an art school with zero connections should not have built a company that made it this far. It wasn't supposed to happen. It did because we got lucky with the people we brought on.
I desperately want the story and legacy of this company to be about how good people win. In the world we live in, the default is that the loudest people win, no matter how wrong they are. We've beaten many loud-but-wrong competitors, but we can't take that for granted. The odds favor the loud over the right, because loudness is noticed immediately and being right takes time to be noticed.
So when you know you are right, please be louder than you think you should be, even when it feels uncomfortable. The world will be better for it. And let's all make the ninth year of Runway the loudest one yet.
I'm genuinely curious to know - who within your organization is the most successful seller or deal person? My hypothesis is that there are 3-5 answers universally true regardless of the organization's size, industry, AI-nativeness, etc.
I feel the biggest controversial take I can give on the cheesecake factory is that the luau salad (RIP) with a shit ton of black pepper is the best entree order there
Generate anything you need. Even full apps. Now in Runway and available for your enterprise workspace.
Runway is everywhere you are to help meet all of your (creative) needs. Very excited to be Anthropic's first creative partner on its marketplace!
Today, Runway is joining Claude Marketplace.
Enterprise teams already working with @claudeai can now put part of their Anthropic commitment toward Runway Creative, bringing video, image and audio generation into the same budget. Learn more at the link below.
Excited to share our partnership with Baseten and to bring the best of our companies to the enterprise

We’ve been pioneering the future for the last 9 years, and we’re just getting started.
Generated @agermanidis here to walk you through how we think pixels are the universal language for storytelling across creative and robotics.
Thanks to Packy for finding (a lot of) the words to help us further amplify our story.
Runway has been on a tear over the past couple months.

Solaris: the world's first Interface World Model
Praxis-1: open-weight World Action Model for robotics
Project Continuum: operating system research application built around real-time interfaces
A video model. An interface model. A robotics model. An operating system. Are you getting it? These are not separate pretrains. They’re different applications, built around the same General World Model backbone, with different post-training on top.
All of them are examples of what you can do when you can simulate any pixel.
So I asked co-CEO Anastasis Germanidis to co-write an essay with me explaining how video, interfaces, operating systems, and robotics all fit together, why video was the right starting point for World Models, where the world is heading if Runway’s bets are right, and whether or not, as someone who simulates worlds, he believes we’re living in a simulation.
Welcome to the future. Enjoy!

September was our biggest month ever for subscriptions and for credits.
A lot more we have in store that’s coming to a POS near you in Q4.

We clearly see AI spend pulled in two different directions.
On the downside, new and cheaper models are pushing AI spend down. Jev captured an entire percentage point of market adoption within a month (unheard of growth). And routers continue to gain.
On the upside, the increased adoption of expensive image and video generation models will push AI spend up, like Higgsfield and Runway.

When everything you can imagine can become reality, the only failure is a failure to imagine.
Nick is right, what Runway is building isn’t to replace news anchors and journalists. Quite the opposite. It hopefully allows for even more focus on the art of the story so that even more news across all platforms can be shared even more quickly.
How news is produced will change in the next 12-24 months, and most likely catalyzed by Runway. But the essence of storytelling, fact finding, truth seeking, and discernment on what to share versus not will not change. It will just be augmented.
Incredibly excited to share Praxis-1, our first open-weight WAM. Praxis-1 extends the bet we made years ago that the best policy models will learn from video, and use that scale to bring embodied intelligence to every industry on earth.
We're actively testing Praxis-1 with early partners across a variety of embodiments, and will release it publicly in the coming months.
If you are interested in testing early with us, please reach out. DMs are open.
Introducing Praxis-1, an open-weight World Action Model that turns our video pre-training expertise into real world control for robots.
Robot demonstration data is limited. But video data is infinite. Praxis-1 extends our bet that the best policy models will learn from video, and use that scale to bring embodied intelligence to every industry.
Praxis-1 is built on our large-scale video pre-training and real-time infrastructure, and acts as a policy model for robotics developers and researchers that works across any embodiment or environment, no matter how complex.
We are actively testing with early partners including Noble Machines, Standard Bots and Ultra, and will be releasing the weights publicly in the coming months.
