We did it! #PaidLeaveMN is ready for @GovTimWalz’s signature! Thank you to everyone who advocated for this game changing policy over the last decade! #mnleg

Small business owners in MN are not worried about the costs of Paid Family Leave. Owner of @butterbakery, Dan Swenson-Klatt, said, "I'll have money to do other things for my business and have a valuable benefit for my staff."publicnewsservice.org/2023-1…
We aren't just witnessing history, we're making it happen! Watch now as @GovTimWalz signs #PaidLeaveMN into state law! facebook.com/MinnesotansForP…

Motion to adopt passes and we are now in the final phase of debate. Not sure how long it will last, but we'll be there for the final vote! #mnleg #PaidLeaveMN
Motion to reject the #PaidLeaveMN conference report fails. We're back to debate on the bill! #mnleg
We are proud of our broad coalition of faith, labor, community, and small business groups. #mnleg #PaidLeaveMN
We are hopefully nearing the end of debate on the motion to reject. Fingers crossed! #mnleg #PaidLeaveMN
The implication that working Minnesotans will abuse #PaidLeaveMN is both wrong and insulting. #mnleg
The #PaidLeaveMN plan is for PARTIAL wage replacement. Workers (and you must be employed to qualify) will only take leave when they need it. It's what we've seen in states with similar policies over nearly a decade of advocacy. #mnleg
Minnesota needs workers. With #PaidLeaveMN, we become the #BestState to attract new workers from out of state. #mnleg
Privatization hasn't worked for other states, it wouldn't be any different here in Minnesota. #mnleg #PaidLeaveMN
We followed the research over nearly a decade of advocacy. A publicly-administered #PaidLeaveMN is the most cost-effective and affordable way to make sure workers have the freedom to care for themselevs and the people they love. #mnleg
FACT CHECK: Any employer #PaidLeaveMN plan that is equal to or better than the state plan can be exempted from the public program. This is this the floor, we hope employers who have the means to do so step up and offer something better. #mnleg

#PaidLeaveMN has been in the works for nearly a decade at the #mnleg. This legislation has been vetted, refined, and re-refined. It is ready to go and Minnesotans are ready for it! @mn4pfl @DrAliceMann @ErinMayeQuade
Question from Floor: if an employer wants to offer a BETTER policy than the statewide #PaidLeaveMN, can they?
Answer: ABSOLUTELY!
And please do! MN Loves our workers and that's what this is about. This is the floor. Businesses can establish the ceiling!
A few GOP members seem to be pushing for 100% wage replacement instead of the tiered wage replacement starting at 90% that's in #PaidLeaveMN. Sen. @ErinMayeQuade says it's a great idea and those senators should co-author a bill w/her next year to bump up replacement to 100%.
There was an attempt to carve out all seasonal workers - not just hospitality. That would have been nearly 30% of Minnesotan workers, including farmers who want #PaidLeaveMN. So glad the senate made sure ag got included.
99.7 % of employers have already rejected the Private plan replacement that Sen. Pratt is suggesting to use instead of a statewide #PaidLeaveMN plan.
We're trying to allow more to benefit, not 99% less
🤷🏽♀️
Unsurprisingly, with #PaidLeave in its final stage to become law has been recommended by two Senators who has been against this bill from the beginning to go back to conference committee... essentially trying to kill the bill. This tactic has been pushed at every stage. #MNLeg
"This program is built on the foundation that all people are worthy. All of our life experiences and life trajectories are important." Sen. @ErinMayeQuade
