Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write. This is the article: volkskrant.nl/kijkverder/v/2…

Showing notifications on your eye is the most depressing thing you can do with smartglasses. We really need to stop normalising companies having direct access to our field of vision whenever they want.

Sadly true. Even harder: getting a visa for non-EU employee
"Let's do startups" - Germany edition But first... some paperwork: 1. Put aside €25,000 for company formation 2. Find a notary to draft articles of incorporation (1-2 weeks) 3. Open bank account (4-6 weeks) 4. Deposit share capital and send to notary 5. Entry into commercial registry 6. Ignore official looking scam letters asking for money 7. Entry into transparency register 8. Register with local trade office 9. Register with tax office 10. Wait for your company's VAT ID 11. You need an official address (don't use your home, can't use PO box), so rent virtual office 12. Buy company insurance 13. Buy accounting software 14. Set up payroll (you have to employ yourself as manager) 15. Pay for on-going accounting costs (€2-3k a year) 16. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly taxes 17. Make sure you have a GDPR-compliant privacy policy, and DPAs with all service providers 18. Make sure you have a compliant legal notice on your website and emails, or risk getting a €50,000 fine 19. Make sure your invoices are actually compliant with regulations 20. Don't ever move out of Germany while owning the company, or else go bankrupt due to the exit-tax with no liquidity problem Now you may invoice your first customer - if you dare ;) (obviously not legal/tax advice, this is satire)

It would be really cool (but also really complicated) to have the same map with budget instead of time. I think train prices in Europe are still criminally too high. It should be illegal for a train ticket to be more expensive than a flight.

I am in particular interested in the eye tracking on the vision pro — designing interfaces around looking and active looking, and exploring how looking expresses what we care about and what we are thinking.
