Some want higher savings, some want higher spending. Our proposal seeks to bridge the differences between EU Member States, following intensive engagement. The Irish Presidency MFF Negotiating Box reflects an ambitious budget of €1.62 trillion - a 30% increase on the current MFF. At the same time, we have proposed overall savings of 8% - €141 billion on the European Commission’s proposal. It is a compromise - designed to act as a catalyst, one which is designed to accelerate the EU budget process to conclusion before the end of 2026.
