Wrote an OpEd about my forthcoming visit to Somnath on 11th May and why this day will always be important with respect to Somnath and the greatness of our civilisation. Also paid homage to each and every person who endured all sorts of challenges yet always protected Somnath and restored its glory.

Jai Somnath!
Somnath Swabhiman Parv begins today. A thousand years ago, in January 1026, Somnath faced its first ever attack. The attack of 1026 and the subsequent attacks couldn’t diminish the eternal faith of millions, nor break the civilisational spirit that rebuilt Somnath time and again.
I’m sharing some pictures from my previous visits to Somnath. If you have been there too, share them using #SomnathSwabhimanParv.

‘Statue of Unity’ is a tribute to Sardar Patel and what is remarkable is that it was built as a result of a mass movement, where people from across India, particularly India’s villages, felt connected with this iconic statue.
Do visit Kevadia and discover its grandness yourself…
In October 2010, @narendramodi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, shared a vision that aimed to bring the nation together. He wanted to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, by building the world's tallest statue.
Narendra Modi’s idea was not just about the size of the statue. It was meant to celebrate India’s unity, the strength of its people, and the legacy of a leader who helped unite the country during challenging times.
CM Modi said, “Sardar Patel's statue will remind those who question India's existence that this nation was, is, and will remain eternal.”
For him, the Statue of Unity was more than just a monument. It stood as a living symbol of India’s unity and a vision that inspired a national movement.

This thread highlights a very satisfying effort undertaken about two decades ago, thus fulfilling a wish of Shyamji Krishna Varma and honouring a courageous son of Maa Bharti.
May more youngsters read about his greatness and bravery!
On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Shyamji Krishna Varma, we reflect on Prime Minister @narendramodi’s tribute to this great revolutionary.
Shyamji Krishna Varma passed away in 1930, holding on to the hope that his ashes would one day return to a free India. However, it was not until 56 years after India's independence that this wish was fulfilled. In August 2003, Gujarat's then-Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, brought his ashes back from Geneva, honouring the freedom fighter's final request.
On 22nd August 2003, CM Modi reached St. George’s cemetery, Geneva, Switzerland to collect Shyamji Krishna Varma's ashes from the Ville de Genève and the Swiss government, fulfilling the long-held wish of this patriot.

The ideals of Bhagwan Mahavir have greatly inspired countless people, including me. His thoughts show the way to build a peaceful and compassionate planet.
On #MahavirJayanti, we recall PM @narendramodi’s deep spiritual bond with Bhagwan Mahavir’s teachings and the Jain community.
Deeply inspired by #BhagwanMahavir’s ideals of ahimsa, satya, and compassion, his journey includes decades of heartfelt interactions with revered Jain Munis.
Their wisdom continues to inspire his vision for a peaceful and inclusive India.

India is a powerhouse of talent, filled with innumerable inspiring life journeys showcasing innovation and courage.
It is a delight to remain connected with many of them through letters. One such effort is the Green Army, whose pioneering work will leave you very inspired.
Letters from PM | Nirmala Devi, Green Army
"If he wears it, then everyone will!" thought Nirmala Devi, from Deora, a small village near Varanasi.
The 'Green Army,' a group of determined women in Deora, had come together to support and empower each other. Their journey began with the establishment of a slipper-making factory. But the first pair of slippers they made wasn’t for sale. It was meant to be sent to someone special..
With hope and belief in their hearts, they sent the slippers to him, convinced that if he wore them, the world would recognize their story and their dreams.
Days later, a letter arrived. As Nirmala Devi held it, her eyes gleamed with joy. "It felt like he was right here with us. It felt like I met PM Modi himself!" she said excited.
It was a letter of appreciation from PM @narendramodi
It carried a heartfelt message for the sisters of the 'Green Army'
"I am delighted to learn about your slipper factory and deeply appreciate the thoughtful gift of your creation. It fills me with immense pride to see women like you leading the way, and contributing to the progress of our nation and society."
For the Green Army, this was a moment of validation, a sign that their efforts mattered.
These women, who had already transformed their village by spreading awareness against drugs and gambling, celebrating the birth of every girl child like a festival, and fighting against dowry, found their efforts recognized at the highest level.
"Chaar chand lag gaye!" Nirmala Devi exclaimed, summing up the pride and joy shared by the entire Green Army.

Letters from PM | Diya Gosai
Diya’s eyes widened as she saw an emblem on the envelope - it was a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office!
As she read the letter, she was overwhelmed with emotions.
“It was an indescribable joy to receive the beautiful picture gift from you during the Vadodara roadshow,” the letter from Prime Minister @narendramodi began. He recounted how even the Spanish President, @sanchezcastejon, had been delighted by the sketches she had prepared.
Diya’s mind rushed back to October 28, that unforgettable day in Vadodara. Among the crowd, with her heart pounding, she had held her sketches - one of PM Modi and the other of Prez Sánchez - hoping they would notice. And they did!
Both leaders stepped out of their vehicle and walked toward her, to receive her sketches.
The Prime Minister had expressed hope that she would continue contributing to fine arts with the same dedication and diligence. He even extended his warm wishes to her family for Diwali and the Vikram Samvat New Year. Diya’s heart swelled with pride as she read his words of encouragement.
“I am confident that our youth will play a leading role in building a Viksit Bharat,” wrote PM Modi.
"I feel immense pride in being a small contributor, a humble part of our nation’s journey," Diya said, her voice filled with joy and emotion.

The #DarkDaysOfEmergency were very challenging times. In those days, people across all walks of life came together and resisted this attack on democracy. I also had numerous experiences working with various people during that time. This thread gives a glimpse of that...
In his own words, @narendramodi has described the Emergency as an unexpected opportunity (Aapda Mein Avsar) that allowed him to work with leaders and organizations across the political spectrum, exposing him to diverse ideologies and viewpoints.
The story of the Emergency, however, did not begin on June 25, 1975, when it was imposed. Student-led agitations against the corruption of the Congress Party were sweeping across the entire nation, and Gujarat was no exception.
In 1974, during the Navnirman Andolan in Gujarat, Narendra Modi witnessed firsthand the power of students' voices in effecting change in the nation. As a Yuva Pracharak of the RSS, he was deputed to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad to voice the youth movement through his fiery speeches.

Rajkot will always have a very special place in my heart. It was the people of this city who put their faith in me, giving me my first ever electoral win. Since then, I have always worked to do justice to the aspirations of the Janta Janardan. It’s also a happy coincidence that I will be in Gujarat today and tomorrow, and one of the programmes is being held in Rajkot, from where 5 AIIMS will be dedicated to the nation.
'Dekho Dekho Kaun Aaya..Gujarat Ka Sher Aaya!'
On February 24 2002, exactly 22 years ago today, @narendramodi stepped into the Gujarat Legislature as an MLA for the first time.
This victory marked the dawn of a promising new era not only for Gujarat but also for India and the world.
