Our latest paper, led by @morganjfarley (funded @tourdecure_aus), highlight acute responses of IL-15, IL-10, IL-6, IL-1ra to HIIT prior to, and following, 7-months of exercise (@JPhysiol): physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.c…. Importantly, lean mass was associated with magnitude of response.

Regular exercise builds resilience against #Cancer by reducing systemic inflammation, eliminating #senescent T cells, increasing NK cells toxicity against cancer, even heating up tumors and many more... @NatRevImmunol

I also wanted to take a moment to thank my incredible supervisors.
I couldn’t have asked for a better team and thank you for shaping me into the person and researcher I am today @tinalskinner @miaschaumberg and David Jenkins.

✅ Interleukin-15 responses to high intensity interval exercise and training: Implications for breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer survivors
Thank-you to NHMRC and @tourdecure_aus for fusing the project.
Thrilled to finally be able to share this work. Where we explored the relationships between & existing clinical and preclinical evidence gut microbiome, cancer, and exercise.
Now time to implement some of our recommendations💪
🚨Exercise and the Gut Microbiome🚨to enhance supportive care in cancer: link.springer.com/epdf/10.10…
We canvas the gut microbiome, cancer and its treatment, physical activity and exercise, healthy and cancer populations, preclinical and clinical evidence, and future recommendations!
Love this!!
This Exercise 'prescription' from a Medical Oncologist made my day.
Change starts at the top, and patients will listen. 🚶♂️ 💪

Acute perturbations and adaptations to exercise training both play a vital role in the anti-oncogenic effect of exercise.
If we could prescribe exercise in a FDA approved pill, 💊 our patients would want it, yet it’s difficult to motivate many patients to exercise when it is free of charge. Fascinating paper on anticancer immunity with exercise.

Had the pleasure of presenting one of my PhD studies on the acute myokine response to high intensity training today at @COSAoncology
4x4 HIIT significantly increased IL-6, IL-10, IL-15, IL-1ra and this response is significantly associated with muscle 💪🏼

This team is changing lives, under the leadership of @davemiz_EP we have built a strong interest in #exerciseoncology in Australia, so much so that oncologists are now talking about it with clients. Thank you #COSA2023 for supporting exercise, and allowing us to spread the word. – at Melbourne, Victoria
Thanks for coming @shelleykay19

Interesting study showing #muscle wasting identified up to 18 mo prior to pancreatic #cancer diagnosis (fat loss up to 6 mo). Low muscle mass & wasting (#sarcopenia) linked to many common chronic diseases, but rarely given a thought in clinical practice! Muscle matters! @ANZSSFR
Adipose tissue and skeletal muscle wasting precede clinical diagnosis of pancreatic cancer
