With huge numbers of children persistently absent from school, our challenge is to ensure they experience education as ‘magnetic’ rather than a ‘bore’. Why? Because what goes first is a child’s engagement, then their attainment & lastly, as a result, their attendance!
It’s the final stretch! Your kindness and care make this season magical for your students. 🎄💜 #teacher5oclockclub

Happy birthday to Mabel. Despite her occasional worries about the world, she would follow you to the ends of it. Which she proved again a couple of days ago.

Just read children should not be distracted by events such as Christmas etc,I think these people forget that young children are exactly that and for some the only magic they get is at school, so carry on having Xmas trees, concerts, parties that’s what they’ll remember,

You can’t build a successful education system around shame, embarrassment, detention & exclusion. You can’t create inclusion for all via a curriculum that only works for some. So as the saying goes “If the child doesn’t learn the way you teach, start teaching the way they learn.”

The how needs more attention but I love her vision and moral compass. I also haven't heard her slate the profession once, which is both welcome and refreshing. I think we finally have some hope.
When we said we'd break down barriers to opportunity for every child, we meant every child.
We need to restore parents' confidence that inclusion and expertise run through our schools like a stick of rock, helping children with SEND to thrive.

There needs to be time for children to #play alongside all the 'driving for high and rising standards'. It's not wrong to spend time exploring and discovering, especially in early years and primary. Not everything has to meet a standard or transfer specific knowledge. 😊
Happy Ada Lovelace Day!
Today we celebrate and reflect upon the contributions of women to STEM fields.
History shows and the present proves that women in STEM play an integral role in shaping the evolution of science research, engagement, and communication for the better.

After two 13 year old boys are jailed for murdering a 19-year-old with a machete, how many more will die before we realise that even focussing on 'how to halve knife crime?' is, in itself, the wrong starting point! Instead we must ask how we create hope for disenfranchised kids!

Dear parents,
This year, like every year, we will do our best. We will care for and look after your child, help nurture them and teach them new things.
Sometimes, we might get it wrong. We won’t mean to. That doesn’t make us bad people, it makes us human.
Yours,
School staff
