Such might be inconsequential to many, surely, but Alhaitham craves this comfort. Survived without it? Sure, he could have. But Alhaitham's unspeakably grateful that because of his ridiculously romantic boyfriend Kaveh who caught the first flight after him, he doesn't have to.
