One of the strengths of @OvertureMaps verture is the ability to put different organizations in the same room to develop collaborative models for building and improving data. This is a great example with zephyr.xyz and @mapillary.
Ever followed a map to a store, only to end up stranded in an empty parking lot?

Replying to @bgurley
@bgurley has a very thoughtful piece on how open source can be used strategically by companies and industries. He gives several examples including @OvertureMaps. Thanks Bill!
A new @bgurley blog post!
I have been thinking about how sophisticated executives are using open source in super creative ways. Started writing this three years ago. Excited to finish it up and publish it! And with the new @p3institute brand.

Good summary of @OvertureMaps progress in its first three years.
Three years in, Overture Maps has moved from alpha to General Availability across most data themes.
Learn how open foundational datasets, cloud-native formats, and #GERS reduce the “conflation tax” and enable interoperable geospatial data.

This has been a really fun trip.
🎂 Overture Maps turns 3.
From a shared idea to open, interoperable base map data used in the real world. Grateful for the community that made it possible.💙

🗺️ Pain-free data integration with @OvertureMaps , GERS & @databricks
GERS adds consistent IDs for roads, places, and buildings, making it easier to join data across sources.
Learn how to use it in Databricks + CARTO: tinyurl.com/yeymrdk7
This is a big one…
Building better apps or doing more insightful analysis requires more data, but putting that data together is driving costs across the industry, what we call the “Conflation Tax”. We think open base layers and open IDs are the solution. See why here.
🚀 Overture’s GERS is now GA!
#GERS makes data sharing, onboarding, and joining easier via common, open, accessible IDs.
⏱️Cut data integration time & cost
🔓No vendor lock-in with open ecosystem
🧩Simple joins, not complex conflations

A major milestone for an amazing project. Happy 20th birthday @openstreetmap !
Happy 20th Birthday OpenStreetMap!
"OpenStreetMap has grown exponentially or quadratically over the last twenty years depending on the metric you’re interested in . . . The story isn’t so much about the data and technology, and it never was. It’s the people. " --@stevec, reflecting on 20 years of OSM
