Mr. Blank

Charlie Kirk was to the American university what Jim Elliot was to Ecuador. Some might not see it now, but soon enough everyone will. Charlie is a martyr not just because of conservative politics, but because of his Christian faith. As I have been sharing with friends in the larger evangelical community who did not know him personally, Charlie had a deeply serious faith and devotion to Christ. He loved his wife and their precious kids. His message wasn’t just about conservative politics; the Christian gospel took on a critically important role in his Charlie’s life and became a main feature his public platform wherever he appeared. Many students carry testimonies of how they came to faith in Christ after hearing Charlie Kirk at their campus. And in many ways he set the tone and tenor for Christian youth in America on cultural and political issues in the public square that few pastors of previous generations felt comfortable or confident talking about. Charlie was unashamed, unapologetic and unafraid. His courage was both remarkable and admirable. Many men twice his age didn’t have an ounce of the courage he had, even if some may have had the special knowledge or training. My prayer is that God raise up more faithful men and women in this generation who are inspired to engage our public square with courage like Charlie. The Lord never replaces anyone, but He will raise up new voices who will be bold. Count on it. This country is desperate for revival and I believe it is coming even faster after today. I am more than confident that my friend Charlie is right now in the arms of the savior. I’m praying for Erika, their family, and all our friends that have been impacted by this devastating loss.
