I'm sure that USB-A and microusb connectors would last a lot longer if they were unidirectional and didn't require 3 attempted insertions every time.

Dear @Apple, if you had _any_ discount on iPhone 16 Pro in Australia this #BlackFriday, I would be buying three. But alas you don't, so disposable income is going to be spent on other electronics.

Back in 2013 I got myself in trouble (with my CEO when I worked at a different company) for saying that "Peak Cloud" was coming, when we would go from a growth market to a churn market. We haven't got there yet, but it's on the horizon.

There's something quite freeing when you delete your personal AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure accounts.

Really @Aussie_BB ?!? Second price rise in 6 months? for a total of 12.5% increase? The annual inflation rate is not 25%. NOT cool. I'll now be examining your competitors to find a better deal. This is not how you treat your customers.

Why does a “flat white” taste so much better in a wide but shallow cup? (As opposed to a narrow but tall cup). I feel this is a PhD thesis in the making.

Unexpected consequence from today's AI: Student essays are now written by AI bots, only to be graded using AI bots by their teachers. We have tools to check to see if students are using AI. Do we now need tools to determine if papers are graded using AI?

Today a new laptop was delivered by courier. Taking it out of the unsealed box it was powered on and at a provisioning lock screen. Needless to say it was pretty hot and the battery was almost flat. Not a good start.

Having fun with #python > x = y = {} > print(x,y) {} {} > x['a'] = 6 > print(x, y) {'a': 6} {'a': 6} # Makes sense, but probably not what you want > for c in ['x', 'y']: globals()[c] = {} > print(x,y) {} {} > x['a'] = 6 > print(x, y) {'a': 6} {} # Not sure my solution helps :)

A little surprised when I couldn't ssh to various hosts and I found that my ~/.ssh/config had been automagically updated with 'PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes ssh-rsa' added to each Host entry. And by a little surprised, I meant not a good way.
