If I am the 49ers, I make 2 trades at the deadline if available: 1) Quenton Nelson - Conditional 2nd (3rd if he doesn’t hit certain metrics) 2) Khalil Mack - 4th round pick The WRs they will want/need will either be unavailable or too pricey. I believe the best version of the 49ers is when the defensive line is the core of the team. Having a starting unit of Bosa-Osa-Mykel-Mack would be insane. On top of having Halton, Height, Keion, and Sam O in the back. But most importantly, left guard is still a liability. Going from Connor Colby to All-Pro guard would transform the run game into the Great Wall. That is the one move I see that would move the needle for this offense without giving a first round pick. If Trent retires, now they have an All-Pro to take his place and support the next left tackle (likely a rookie). Given his contract and the upcoming Puni extension talks, I don’t know how plausible this is, but I believe they make exceptions for insanely talented players. When McGlinchey was drafted, John Lynch could not stop talking about Quentin Nelson. He was obsessed. That’s why I believe it’s a possibility
