Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times sealed.
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a silent sky.
Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith for ever.
Never shall I forget the nocturnal silence that deprived me for all eternity of the desire to live.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to ashes.
Never shall I forget those things, even were I condemned to live
as long as God Himself.
Never.

I'd like to say that today I have been better, stronger, faster but recovery is not like the bionic man. Heart meds are making me feel very lightheaded and very tired. Having major bowel surgery combined with being permanently nil by mouth also means feeding is a huge challenge. I will never give up.

The ground team is closely involved in the Space Station’s day-to-day work, so they need a clear view of what’s happening on board. This means setting up cameras and taking photos which can take up a significant amount of work time. To help offset that time, JAXA sent up this little guy, the Int-Ball in 2017 to take photos and video for the ground teams. Having something constantly hovering around us did take some getting used to, but it quickly proved its value. The 2017 Int-Ball was a successful technology demonstration, and its successor is still flying on the Station today!

An urn containing human ashes is displayed in Block 9 of the new main exhibition at the Auschwitz Memorial.
It is surrounded by empty frames that symbolize the victims of the camp whose faces we do not know, and whose identities may never be recovered.
The empty frame reminds us that behind the number of 1,1 million victims were individual people, each with a name, a face, a life, and a story brutally cut short.

One of the most common conditions associated with pancreatic cancer may also be one of the least understood: Cancer cachexia. Sometimes known as wasting syndrome, cancer cachexia is the loss of 5% or more of body weight in six months.
It is caused by many different factors that scientists are still trying to understand. It differs from weight loss because it is unintentional and happens even if the patient is still eating enough food to maintain their weight.
Cancer cachexia is also different from weight loss because it affects muscles too. Instead of just losing weight from excess fat, cancer cachexia can cause significant muscle-wasting that can make patients feel weak and unable to withstand often intense cancer treatments. This muscle wasting can also include weakening of muscles of the heart and lungs, which makes early intervention important.
This Cancer Cachexia Awareness Day, visit 🔗 pcan.at/po6j38 to learn more about this condition that affects more than 90% of people living with pancreatic cancer.
On this episode of PancChat, host @AlisynCamerota is joined by Dr. Eileen O’Reilly of @MSKCancerCenter to discuss what the recent approval of RASONQUE™ (daraxonrasib) means for people with pancreatic cancer. 💊
Dr. O’Reilly breaks down RAS signaling, common RAS mutations including G12D, G12V and G12R, how RAS-targeting drugs work, what RAS mutation testing involves and what “RAS wild type” means.
