July 29th 1962 fascist Oswald Mosley tried to lead a march through Manchester. He was attacked by anti-fascists who knocked him to the ground. He was escorted away by 250 police, who were unable to prevent him being pelted with eggs. Milkshakes were unavailable #NigelFarage

I followed Nigel Farage on and off for 10 years.
When all's said and done about his standing in Clacton, milkshake incident etc, he remains at the end of the day one of the most repugnant shameless liars in UK history.
Some of his standout lesser-known lies I've compiled FTR 🧵

What awful news. Surely our foremost poet. His poems could up-end you like a drug. Entirely attuned to the natural world, and the strangeness of worlds just beyond our senses. Novelist, essayist, columnist - a mighty talent.

It’s not lost on me that the crooked referee in the Scotland v France rugby game is Nick Berry.
Every loser wins - not this time 🏉🏉🏉🏴🏴🏴 – at Glasgow, Scotland

Rugby Union 6 Nations - I'm not partisan but Scotland were just robbed by the Referee and the TMO - bad decision on an obvious grounding. If you're going to have TMOs at least make sure they do a good and fair job.
For me that took the shine off an otherwise interesting game.
Scotland France - crooked refs. What’s the fucking point- furious @BBCSport @FranceRugby @ScottishRugbyXV

A thread on Dub poet Michael Smith:
In the early 80s BBC2 screened a documentary about Jamaican Dub poet Mikey Smith called "Stand Up and Spit: Upon Westminster Bridge – a film about Michael Smith". It completely & utterly blew my mind. He is peaceful, charismatic and inspiring.

Very sad news to hear of the passing of Ilya Kabakov.
These wings adorn the walls of Artangel HQ. A memento from our collaboration with Ilya & Emilia, visionary artists, whose imaginings of utopia have brought hope to many.
Sincerest condolences to Emilia, all family & friends.

ALT A pair of white feathered wings mounted in a frame alongside reproduced sketchbook pages, which feature notes and sketches. From a project by the artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, comissioned by Artangel. The frame is mounted on a white wall in an office, above a desk cluttered with piles of books and paper.
