Grateful to be able to share my story on @CBSMornings about how accessible technology such as iPad, continues to enable opportunities. It is my hope that by sharing my own journey, more people are able to gain access to the communication tools they need. cbsnews.com/video/nonspeakin…

Students have different “learning styles”. True or false?
I love how @rastokke isn’t afraid to tackle hot topics like this in her podcast episode with @DTWillingham.
Answer- FALSE (although more than 90% of teachers believe this may be true, there is no data to support that students have different learning styles.
So if you're a teacher, like me, who is constantly feeling guilty for not meeting each one of your students’ unique learning styles, you can take something off your plate because this is “something that's not scientifically supported.” (9:35) You’re welcome.😊

Oral language development has been a HUGE instructional focus for me this year. But I can’t do it alone.
Family connections & engagement is an essential aspect of my teaching philosophy and I am grateful for resources such as this Speech Sound Ladder from @KidsInclusive to share with parents/caregivers in P/T conferences and Literacy workshops.
These strategies are effective and do not require parents to have proficient reading skills since the skills are language based! #YGK @KUHSSCE

Everyone suffers when we cheap out on providing direct support for our most vulnerable learners.
Many students with complex needs are overwhelmed and under-supported.
Kids are in crisis.
@Sflecce, this is on you.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) isn’t about erasing differences to make “one-size-fits-all” lessons and assessments. Instead, it’s about recognizing barriers, naming them, highlighting them, celebrating them, and designing for them.

Does anyone have the context as to why education act regulations surrounding special education class size state, "(g) on and after the 1st day of September, 1982, in a class for exceptional pupils consisting of pupils with different exceptionalities, sixteen pupils." /1
Specifically, why would a class with a variety of exceptionalities have a higher class size limit than all the other classifications of class types? e.g., ASD class = max of 6, DD = 10, but mix them in one class and it can now be 16? What's the logic? ontario.ca/laws/regulation/9…
If you want to improve EQAO scores, focus on helping families rise out of poverty. Schools and teachers can work on improving instruction but other factors outside our control impact scores, too - likely even moreso than the factors within our control.

If your employer wants you to use multi-factor authentication, then I would say they need to provide you with two internet-connected devices to do it.
I'm all for improved security, but since when was it ok to make my personal phone essential for accessing my work email account?

Thanks for caring so much about kids y'all.
Here's a collection of what I share with his teachers:
- my first email introducing my son and SM
- 1 pg about SM and tools to support
- accommodations we've requested for his 504 Plan.
Hope it's helpful.
