I always will support the freedom to read, for children to have access to inclusive literature that represents the diversity in our communities. I stand with the authors and publishers, and have turned down planned visits at this school board until the decision is reversed.

Appalling @WCDSBNewswire. 2SLGBTQIA+ students & families are in your schools & communities. Do you restrict books about habitats until students learn that topic in Gr4? Your actions deny 2SLGBTQIA+ kids’ lived exp’s & tell them they have no place in your schools. #onted

Do better, @WCDSBNewswire. As @ForestofReading says, "young ppl deserve to not only see themselves reflected in the books they read, but to also be exposed to the worldviews & lived exp's of others, partic those of historically marginalized groups" bit.ly/2023bookchallenges

Staff shortages in our publicly funded schools continue to be a daily challenge. Short-term solutions have not resolved the problem. This crisis must be addressed immediately, with long-term and sustainable solutions. See our full statement at bit.ly/3FIQmw3.

At my kid's swim class, I told a parent what an #onted teacher's pay is. He had questions: "What about inflation?" "How do you survive on that?" At the end of the convo: "You should start looking for another job. I got 9% last year". This is a university worker.

In response to 1 Million March 4 Children protests that are scheduled to take place across Canada, ETFO strongly condemns anti-2SLGBTQ+ protests. Any actions or events that seek to undermine the rights and dignity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community must be denounced. #onpoli #onted

Stephen Lecce and the Ford government need to start bargaining in good faith with the teachers who give our children a world-class education. After years of suppressing wages with the unconstitutional Bill 124, it's time to step up and put a genuine offer on the table. #ONpoli
“Our members want to be in school, but this govt has to maintain the stability they want by engaging in good faith bargaining, not by arbitrarily introducing new policies to circumvent our collective bargaining process,” @ETFOpresident. RELEASE etfo.ca/news-publications/me… #onpoli

Excellent article. "If the government wishes to improve education, it can spend more on teachers and reduce class sizes. That’s a fine way to make space for learning that will pay all sorts of dividends to a free and democratic society." #onpoli tvo.org/article/education-is…

School boards are facing a $432m funding shortfall - that means cuts to students' services & staff while the repair backlog will continue to grow. Many had to dig into reserves to cover pandemic-expenses while the gov't withheld billions. My motion today would fix it. #onpoli

Less than 1/10th the cost of @fordnation's corporate tax cuts. That's how much the @tdsb is asking to be reimbursed for in pandemic expenses, to help get students back on track in their learning with supports they NEED. Don't tell them you can't afford it, @fordnation. #ONPoli

First Ford tells Mayor @BonnieCrombie to stop whining" and when she challenges him on Bill 23. Then in Queen's Park this morning, he tells MPP @marymargaretbey to "sit down" when she asks him a question during Question Period. She's doing her job. Ford does not respect women.

The Ford government is also holding onto $4.1 billion in unallocated funds. “Where is that money? Why can we not invest it in our students, in our children?” said the Elementary Teachers of Toronto president today. The Ford government's education spending was $413 million below budget in the first half of the fiscal year, according to Ontario's budget watchdog. The only increase in education spending was $371 million for the Catch Up Payments program (a one-time $200 payment to parents)
