Non-APC young people, we’ve organised before. #EndSARS was an example of what we can do together and for each other. That’s the energy we need for these elections. Only this time, many thanks to the shege BAT has shown everyone, we’re not alone anymore. Everybody is tired.

Hmmm. I visited somewhere a while ago. When we were there, we sat speaking to the host (who was significantly older to be a boss, even a parent). As we spoke, one of the "NEPO" babies joined us on the table. He was way younger but just kept contributing to the small talk. On the other hand in the same room, there was another "LAPO" baby of the same age who was too shy to come and join the table. They just sat in one part of the room, away from the conversation happening. That day, I saw the impact of wealth on audacity. Poverty robs you of more than what to eat or drink. It also takes the immediate capacity to see yourself as worthy of the table and being heard. It's why I hate it so much.
I have never seen any Nepo kid that's timid. I attended to a 10 year old kid a few days ago at the pharmacy. Before clerking her,she asked me,"are you a licensed pharmacist?" I nodded in affirmative and she said I could attend to her. Lapo kids don't have that level of audacity

22 years ago, my dad died, and my life was changed in a fundamental way. Every year on this day, I expect a different flavour of grief, and I often post a tribute to my father because yes, HRH Eze Dr. Monday Achilefu Nwangwa was a phenomenal person. But today, the grief is not for the loss of my first best friend, even though I still miss him. Today, the grief is for my 8 year old self who not only lost her father and favourite person in the world at the time, but gradually lost the joys of being a child because adult males thought a child, who lost her father, and whose mother wasn’t often around because she had to work twice as hard to ensure all our material needs were met, was free game for them to sexually assault and abuse. I wonder the person I would have been without all this pain shaping me. I guess I’d never know. So, today, I’ll read “Hold Me in Love, Hide Me in God”, an essay I wrote about that childhood pain and how it shaped my life, I’ll hug myself tight. I’ll pray that some days there’s less to grieve about. Say a prayer for me if that’s your thing.

I haven’t been okay this entire month; there’s so much anxiety in this head and heart. I’m still choosing to trust that everything will sort itself and I’ll come out fine in the end. Because, yea, if I don’t have faith, what else do I have?

I might never get to labor (the one in maternity ward) for my own children in my lifetime, but the women who go the extra mile to give birth to, and raise children who they train to never become burdens to society? I will always have respect for. I'm so big on motherhood, and it takes a community to weather it. A lot of us stop caring about moms once the infant stage is over, I care for mommies till they die.❤️

We should all support magazines run by younger or new writers. They started them because they have zeal. An industry survives, generation to generation, because of the zeal of new people. Without them, we have nothing.

We saw the public lynching of this man, and those who spoke up and advised against it were accused of covering mediocrity because of race. And yet, it was always as clear as day that the attacks at him were racially motivated. Going beyond him, we are now watching in real time as African and Black writers are being hounded with accusations of AI use, and those of us calling out that bullshit as racist are being told that we’re supporting wrong. There’s a concerted effort to discredit black intellectuals. I would say I am surprised but that would be a lie since I know that this isn’t new.
Clearing his name after he’s no longer here to see it. Rest in peace, Professor Jason Arday. You deserved your flowers while you were still, here. #writing #WritingCommmunity

Only thing I enjoy about applying for these grants is the range of questions and the so many numerous ways I get to talk about how impactful @talkingdrummag already is and is going to be. You can still support us here: selar.com/showlove/thetalkin…. Keep this dream alive.

The Akurulo Initiative goes live in three months. This has been an intense, hard and crazy year. I’ve cried tears. I’ve been so scared and tired and exhausted but God has been good. Also, I am thankful for everyone that has supported so far. Over the next three months, I’ll share more details. I can barely wait.

Me and my friend born in the mid-90s were chatting about a show we enjoyed in our childhood. We tried to involve the Husband-Elect in the gist. This man says “how I go know am? Me wey dem born yesterday.” Once again, this man reminds me that I’m an older woman to him.

During the first Ebola outbreak, we had ministers and directors give out detailed information, and the citizens had a certain level of trust in our government then. I’ve heard more people call this latest news a hoax, money begging scheme or to cause instability. Damn.

The most hilarious part was him jumping up and down, and the guy wearing black behind laughing several moments after to cover up the fact that ain’t nothing funny. If that’s his friend, he needs to chase that friend away because na opp.
