This is f*cking insane. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei just told DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis:
"Every decision I make about Claude is balanced on the edge of a knife. Build too slow and China wins, build too fast and we lose control
We told Claude we were evil. It didn't crash. It didn't refuse. It started lying to protect itself"
In this 14-minute conversation, Hassabis answers:
"Do I worry about being Oppenheimer? That's why I don't sleep much"
Chatbots → Agents → Agents That Act On Their Own → AI Doing AI Research → AGI
Both of them put AGI at 2026-2027, not some distant future
By the end of this year, models will already be doing AI research on their own
95% of people still think AI is a chatbot, the 5% who watch this know what the next 12 months look like
Worth more than any $1,500 AI course
Bookmark and watch it tonight
Then read the harness engineering guide below and start building agents before 2027 does it for you ↓

This is a virtual human body with 700 muscle actuators, 206 joints, and 90 body segments.
It's fully open source, and researchers can use it to simulate human movement through muscle-level control.

Visual artist @tommyoshima and Kaukokaipuu Kobo are converting Dr. Kenji Kohiyama's two decades of macro insect photogrammetry into 3D Gaussian splats.
The project is part of the exhibition "Insects: An Exhibition by Takeshi Yoro and Kenji Kohiyama, Look, Feel, and Think," produced by Crevis.
The show opened at the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art on 9 October 2026 and runs until 29 November 2026.

This is the Weierstrass function, a “monster” that is continuous everywhere but differentiable nowhere. First published in 1872, it prompted scrutiny of assumptions in calculus. Similar functions are used to study random motion and analyze risk. quantamagazine.org/the-jagge…

Amazing how quickly we went from "oh no LLMs are going to flood the Internet with insecure code" to "oh no LLMs have discovered the internet was already flooded with insecure code"

Meta published a paper that might end the current LLM era.
They proved that we can kill the "tokenizer" forever and it actually makes the models stronger.
Every AI you use today (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) reads text the exact same way. It chops your words into arbitrary chunks called tokens.
It relies on a massive, bloated vocabulary of around 100,000 specific chunks just to understand a sentence.
We assumed this was the only way to build AI. We treated it as the fundamental speed limit of language models.
Meta proved we were completely wrong.
Their new paper, "Breaking the Token Ceiling," ditches tokens entirely.
Instead, they forced the AI to process raw bytes. A vocabulary of just 256 values.
The results rewrite the rules of model efficiency.
By training on pure bytes and distilling the knowledge, these tiny models didn't just survive. They dominated.
Meta's distilled 1B-parameter byte models asymptotically surpassed state-of-the-art token models like Llama 3.2-1B and Gemma-3-1B across downstream tasks.
They use a fraction of the vocabulary. They require less data. They take up less storage.
It forces the model to actually learn the fundamental relationships between raw data instead of relying on pre-packaged text chunks.
This is a massive shift for anyone building, training, or deploying AI.
We’ve spent the last five years obsessively optimizing how we chop up text to feed these models.
It turns out, the bottleneck wasn't the intelligence of the model.
It was the tokenizer.

RED AGENT
“In 1987, I worked in the 6th Department of the KGB in Moscow. The most important mission of the 6th Department was to recruit spies and gather intelligence among businessmen in capitalist countries. That very year, our department recruited a 40-year-old American businessman named Donald Trump, who was given the codename ‘Krasnov.’”
