Dragging up two mini monsters in the Cornish countryside whilst trying to be a (un)perfect farming wife and mother. It involves a lot of mess, mud and mayhem.

Holiday lets are businesses, not second homes. From farm diversification to family-run cottages, holiday accommodation supports rural jobs and tourism. Reclassifying holiday lets for council tax purposes risks making viable rural businesses unviable. This Budget, it’s time for a rural reset. Our reservoirs are very low in Cornwall. But we haven't had a new reservoir since 1984. The population has increased by 130-140,000 people since and is set to increase. We could reach capacity limit, and certainly there's not enough to support AI Data centres as well as people.
Parts of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, East Sussex and West Sussex have been moved into the highest drought category. Head of Water Resources, Richard Thompson, explains what the severe drought means πŸ‘‡ Find out more: environmentagency.blog.gov.u…

When we were younger, Farmer and I would sit there testing out different beers and ciders. As we got older we would test out different wines. Now we are at the are where we sit there testing out different vinegars! 🀣🀣🀣

What worries me about this - it's not just about yeild. More people are giving up growing cereals. I've mentioned it before - the figures don't stack up to keep growing.
🚨 Britain's barley harvest has plunged 14% to just 5.5 million tonnes, its lowest level since 2011/12, as grain supplies face a record squeeze New figures reveal production is also 21% below the five-year average READ MORE: farminguk.com/news/britain-s…

The storm has done a bit of damage in Cornwall. We are without power today. But I’m so grateful I have my wood burners because we have heat, we’re warm and we have a way of cooking some lunch.

Actually it’s very sensible advice - not to go out panic buying but making sure you have provisions to last a couple of days. It could be snow, It could be you’re too sick to go anywhere. But I guess us rural people tend to do it anyway because of where we live.
🚨 The Government has been accused of 'scaremongering' after warning British households to stockpile food, water and cash amid growing fears of cyber attacks and disruption to food supplies. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting defended the advice, saying people should be 'alert but not alarmed' as the UK faces increasing threats from hostile states and extreme weather. πŸ—£οΈ "Those are the sorts of everyday challenges and threats we could well face, and it is right we ask the country to be ready..." The warnings come amid wider concerns over Britain's food security, with MPs hearing calls for greater protection of domestic food production. READ MORE: ow.ly/7wl85100pHJ

Yesterday I picked up some bottle water - just for emergencies and we fill up pans in case the power went off. It power goes, our water goes. And lo and behold, the power is off today.

Farmer can remember another farmer has a manual for a piece of kit he has, going back twenty years ago when he last used it. On the other side of the coin Farmer can't remember what I've asked him to do five minutes ago.

Farmer has a smart phone. At times the phone is smarter than Farmer. I've just installed smart bulbs because I'm fed up of turning lights off because everyone has left them on. I've just set it up for farmer on the app. This could go wrong... Very very wrong....

Muddy Buddy won his first ploughing match at college this week. He's pleased and I'm proud. Someone awesome at the college made the trophy out of plough parts - however you do not want to drop it on your foot, as it's heavy!

I'm using @Shearwell app myfarmworks. We've just started our second year with it and I'm still getting used to it. I've just worked out how to see ages of my ewes. We still have 5 ewes that are 12 years 8 months... Four are in with our rams while the 5th was the late lamber! 1

In a way I was glad, she died here but I also felt really sad because she was part of the small group of oldies I had. Although not quite as old as Maud who was 16 when she died, she has been here for ten years - maybe more if she was our own breeding. 6

Although she didn't have a name, she was a known sheep. She may even have had had a name, albeit forgotten in time. I gotta stop naming sheep, especially as it makes it worse when you lose them! 7

I'm feeling a little chuffed with myself - the first batch of red wine vinegar is ready! And it took has made a scoby, which is a sign for me that it's done really well. On a blind taste test between a bought bottle and mine, Farmer thought mine was sweeter, the other like malt.
