PIEDMONT , one of Italy’s 20 wine regions, is located in the country’s northwest between the Alps and the Apennines. Renowned for its diverse terroirs and centuries-old winemaking tradition, it is home to some of Italy’s most prestigious appellations and finest wines.
LANGHE is one of the five broad sub-regions in Piedmont, located in the hilly landscape of the Apennines. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014, its rolling hills, exceptional soils, and ideal microclimate provide the perfect conditions for Nebbiolo, the noble grape behind Barolo.
BAROLO is one of the four DOCG wine-growing areas of the Langhe. Produced exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo, it spans 11 communes: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra, Monforte d’Alba, Novello, Verduno, Grinzane Cavour, Diano d’Alba, Cherasco, and Roddi.
LA MORRA is the largest of Barolo’s 11 communes, renowned for producing some of the appellation’s most elegant and perfumed expressions of Nebbiolo. Among its most celebrated Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive (MGAs) are Brunate, Cerequio, Arborina and Rocche dell’Annunziata, each showcasing a distinctive expression of La Morra’s exceptional terroir.
ROCHE DELL’ ANNUNZIATA is one of Barolo’s most celebrated MGAs, recognized for centuries for producing wines of exceptional quality. Located in the heart of La Morra, its calcareous marl soils, ideal exposure, and moderate elevation consistently produce Barolos of remarkable elegance, aromatic complexity, and longevity.
The wine #inmyglass was crafted by Paolo Scavino from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the renowned Rocche dell’Annunziata MGA. This exceptional cru is always bottled as a Barolo Riserva, benefiting from an additional 6 to 8 months of aging beyond the mandatory minimum aging period of 62 months required before release, allowing you to experience the magic of this extraordinary vineyard #inyourglass. 🍷
Fresh Tajarin with Piedmont black truffles proved to be a match made in heaven.
Salute🍷

FRANCE is home to some of the world’s most renowned wine regions, each shaped by its own history, climate, geology, and grape varieties.
ROUSSILLON, in the far south of France, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, this wine region is known for its diverse terroirs, sunny climate, and production of both dry wines and Vin Doux Naturels.
Its varied soils, schist, granite, limestone, gneiss, and clay, help create a wide range of wine styles. Key appellations include Banyuls, Collioure, Maury, Rivesaltes, Muscat de Rivesaltes, and Côtes du Roussillon.
BANYULS
Within Roussillon, at the point where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean Sea, lies Banyuls, a historic appellation spanning Banyuls-sur-Mer, Collioure, Port-Vendres, and Cerbère. Its steep schist terraces and dry-stone walls make much of the vineyard work manual. One of France's great Vin Doux Naturels (VDN), Banyuls is produced through mutage and is dominated by Grenache Noir. The appellation produces three styles: Rimage, fresh and fruit-driven; Traditionnel, oxidative with dried fruit and rancio notes; and Grand Cru, the most complex and age-worthy expression.
The wine in my glass was a Banyuls Rimage 2023 produced by VICA – Les Vignes du Vent, a cooperative winery of Roussillon. Crafted from 100% Grenache Noir and made through the traditional technique of mutage, this youthful expression of Banyuls Rimage is designed to preserve the freshness, purity, and vibrant fruit character of the grape, capturing the essence of this remarkable terroir and placing the very best of this extraordinary vineyard landscape #inyourglass. 🍷
My favorite pairing? Dark chocolate.
Thanks for traveling through the wine #inmyglass @yycbikefoodwine 🥇👏👏👏👏

RHÔNE VALLEY
Stretching between the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, the Rhône Valley forms a natural corridor shaped by the Rhône River itself, a powerful force that defines both landscape and identity.
Its strength lies in diversity: granite, clay, and sand each give the wines their own character.
NORTHERN RHÔNE
Here, the identity of the wines becomes more precise. Steep slopes, terraced vineyards, and granitic soils shape wines of structure, intensity, finesse, and balanced acidity.
From this northern landscape emerges one of the most remarkable appellations of the Rhône Valley
CÔTE ROTIE
Located on the right bank of the Rhône, just south of Vienne and about 30 km from Lyon, it is the northernmost appellation of the valley. Here, the vineyard takes on a striking vertical dimension, unfolding across steep, terraced slopes where gradients can exceed 60%. These narrow parcels, sometimes only a few dozen vines wide, demand meticulous and entirely manual work, making viticulture as demanding as it is precise.
Its vineyard is composed of numerous lieux-dits, each contributing nuance and complexity to the wines.
At its core lies Syrah which can be used alone or complemented by up to 20% of Viognier, a rare and distinctive feature unique to this appellation.
It is produced by Pierre Gaillard, crafted from 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier, sourced from 30-year-old vines rooted on steep hillside terraces and meticulously hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to capture the true essence of the appellation #inyourglass 🍷
Paired with Daube de Bœuf à la Syrah and a Gratin Dauphinois, the experience unfolded as a true journey through the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie, where every nuance #inyourglass echoed the depth, warmth, and complexity of its origin.
À votre santé 🍷

What’s #inmyglass ?
👀 Clear and bright, pale gold with light straw reflections.. Bright and limpid.
In the glass, it shows moderate to moderately high viscosity, forming slow, well-defined tears
👃 Clean and expressive, with pronounced notes of white flowers (acacia, hawthorn).
A core of pear and white-fleshed fruits is complemented by stone fruit nuances, giving the aromatic profile depth and warmth. Subtle hints of fine honey emerge, alongside delicate notes of vanilla and sweet almond,
A gentle touch of ginger spice adds lift and aromatic complexity. The overall impression is precise and harmonious, with a discreet mineral freshness.
👄 Dry, medium to medium-plus in body, with a supple, rounded texture balanced by a fresh structural line. The palate confirms the aromatic profile: layered stone fruits, orchard fruit tones, subtle honeyed richness, and a delicate thread of ginger spice. Oak influence remains measured, contributing texture rather than overt toast.
The wine shows a fresh mineral lift on the finish, providing tension and definition. Acidity is well integrated, supporting the fruit without sharpness.
Overall, this is a gorgeously aromatic wine, combining expressive stone fruit character, subtle spice, supple texture, and mineral precision in a balanced and gastronomic style.

TUSCANY is one of Italy’s most important wine regions, stretching from the Tyrrhenian coast to the Apennines and encompassing historic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Bolgheri, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Its varied elevations, galestro and clay soils, and Mediterranean climate create a mosaic of terroirs, with Sangiovese forming the backbone of the region’s most traditional and age-worthy wines.
MONTALCINO, a small hilltop town in southern Tuscany, is the birthplace of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, the first wine in Italy to be awarded the prestigious DOCG designation. Surrounded by higher-altitude vineyards and diverse galestro soils, the area produces wines exclusively from Sangiovese, governed by some of the country’s strictest regulations, including extended mandatory aging that delays release for years. This combination of site, discipline, and time defines Brunello’s structure, complexity, and extraordinary longevity.
CASTELLO ROMITORIO stands among the leading contemporary producers of the appellation. Located in the cooler, north-western sector of Montalcino, the estate works with higher elevations and galestro-rich soils to craft Brunello that favors finesse, mineral tension, and clarity of fruit over sheer power.
The estate also carries a distinctive cultural identity. Restored by artist Sandro Chia, a key figure of the Italian Transavanguardia movement, each label features his original artwork, linking wine, place, and contemporary Italian art in a way few producers do, where the bottle becomes both agricultural and artistic expression.
The wine #inmyglass is produced by Castello Romitorio from its high-elevation vineyards in the north-western slopes of Montalcino, crafted from 100% Sangiovese and shaped by one of Italy’s most rigorous aging regulations: Brunello di Montalcino cannot be released before January 1st of the fifth year following harvest, and six years for Riserva, a discipline that allows the wine to develop structure, complexity, and true longevity, delivering the full expression of this magnificent terroir #inyourglass 🍷
It was absolutely stunning alongside pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale, where the richness of the slow-braised wild boar met the wine’s vibrant acidity and firm tannins in a classic, unmistakably Tuscan pairing.
Salute 🍷

What’s #inmyglass ?
👀 It shows a deep, rich ruby color that still looks youthful, with only a slight garnet tone at the edge. It’s bright and clear, with slow, thick legs that suggest concentration and the warmth of the vintage😉
Even visually, it feels serious and structured.
👃 Expressive and elegant rather than heavy. Ripe black cherry and red plum lead the way, followed by fresh wild berries and a touch of cassis. With air, the wine becomes more complex and savory, revealing dried rose petals, tobacco leaf, cedar and sweet spices. There’s a beautiful earthy side as well, with hints of leather, forest floor and crushed stone that clearly speak of the land it comes from. Everything feels integrated and refined, just layered and harmonious.
👄 Dry and full-bodied, supported by vibrant acidity that keeps it lively and fresh. The tannins are firm but very fine and polished, giving grip without harshness. Flavors of sour cherry, red currant and dark cherry blend with notes of tobacco, herbs, espresso and a subtle mineral edge. Despite its power and depth, the wine never feels heavy; it stays energetic and balanced. The finish is long and persistent, leaving impressions of cherry, spice and a savory, stony character that invites another sip.
