Reported here previously, now official: NWSL players receive $10,000 for winning Challenge Cup, $5,000 for finishing 2nd — significant for most players given minimum base salary is $35k. Other semifinalists get $1,500. Numbers go up in 2023. Result of partnership with UKG firm.
Props to @elevatesv @UKGInc @NWSL on the deal to drive pay equity and recognize the FIRE of women's soccer. Excited to cheer @TheNCCourage as they take on @WashSpirit in the Challenge Cup final!

We have work to do. I invested in NC Women’s soccer because it is so important for the culture. It is good that swift action was taken. But we have to do more to ensure that women can thrive without fear. There is no finish line.

Moving swiftly here was important, and just the start
Making sure this doesn't happen again is the next goal for the many of us in this @TheNCCourage ownership group and we want to continue to center our players, their stories and their safety in this organization
