Today, I launched my election posters across Tshwane with a simple ask: give ActionSA 5 more years to keep fixing our Capital.
Five more years to get the basics right. To deliver reliable services. To build safe, clean communities. To grow our economy and create opportunity.
We’ve made progress. There is much more to do.
Give us 5 more years to build a Capital City we can all be proud of. 💚🇿🇦
@Action4SA – at Pretoria, South Africa
I spent the morning in Cullinan, Region 5, at the City of Tshwane’s hydrant filling stations for water tankers. This is the area that tankers are designated to collect water and transport it communities that have been impacted by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant water issue.
These hydrant filling stations aren’t supplied through the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant. My oversight visit today is focused on tracking the value chain of compliance with the delivery of water to communities. @CityTshwane

We are pleased to report that the intervention undertaken to restore water supply to the Soshanguve L tower zone has yielded positive results.
Power Alert Update: A veld fire that burnt too close to power lines was the cause of last night’s power outage that affected areas in Pretoria East.
Power has been restored to areas affected with only parts of Waltloo Industrial and Nellmapius that remain off. Our Energy and Electricity team is attending to the areas that remain off.
We apologise to residents and businesses for the inconvenience caused by electricity outages.
@CityTshwane
The City is currently investigating reports of an explosion on the Hans Strydom route, next to Nellmapius X24. The Energy and Electricity Business Unit is investigating whether this incident may be linked to the power outage affecting large parts of Pretoria East. @CityTshwane

Water tanker stations
This afternoon, we provided an update to residents of Zithobeni about the work underway at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant. The City has appointed Rand Water to provide the required technical skills to upgrade the plant. The budget is available and our teams are already at work. @CityTshwane
We engaged Zithobeni residents who are affected by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant water crisis. Together with health workers and peer educators, we’ve reached a large number of communities.
Our goal was to raise awareness about the water alert and the presence of the City’s water tankers that are stationed across Region 7 to supply water.
We recognise the responsibility we carry as the City to protect our communities, ensure access to safe drinking water and address the failures that led to this. @CityTshwane
Our water alert awareness campaign in Zithobeni aims to provide residents with important information about the water crisis and how they can protect themselves from illness.
We are cognisant of the fact that many of our residents are fearful and this has been compounded by misinformation. Our health workers are on a door-to-door campaign to provide assurance and guidance. @CityTshwane
We are conducting a water alert awareness campaign in Zithobeni, Region 7. We have joined Tshwane health workers and peer educators who are engaging residents on the importance of not consuming the water supplied through municipal taps. Residents must instead use water supplied by the City’s water tankers.
Our awareness campaign includes representatives from the Gauteng health and community safety. @CityTshwane

We are in Bronkhorstspruit this morning to engage with traditional leaders, religious and community leaders about the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant water crisis and the City’s response.
The delegation includes iKosi Mkhambi II Mahlangu, the senior traditional leader of the amaNdebele Ndzundza Sokhulumi Traditional Authority .
This engagement forms part of our continued effort to increase awareness about the water alert to communities across Region 7. Our health workers are on the ground in different parts of the region.
Residents are advised not to consume or use water supplied through the plant. The water must only be used to flush the toilet.

#PowerUpdate: Extended power interruption-Soshanguve W substation.
Residents of Tshwane, we have been alerted that residents have been visiting the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant. I want to appeal to residents not to visit the facility.
Rand Water has been brought on board to assist the City in upgrading and rehabilitating the plant. Crucial assessments are underway.
A key requirement of this work is that the facility must be treated as national key point. The security at the gate will not allow anyone to enter the facility without authorisation.
Our work in Region 7 continues.
