Pretty amazing things happen here in SWKS! Cimarron was headed to Colby for a volleyball game yesterday when their bus blew a tire outside of Dighton, in the middle of countryside.
“A guy from Scott City pulled over, and helped us get into town and to a tire shop. The Superintendent of USD 482 Dighton Schools met us at the tire shop and assured us we’d have a bus soon and a driver to get us to Colby for a 4 o’clock game.
We’re on the road again because of all of the people who chose to help us today. Thank you Dr. Waters, Mr. Flax, Rocio, and most of all, the Dighton Tire shop, Dighton Superintendent, and Mr. Neily (our awesome Dighton bus driver taking us to Colby). Takes a team!” #sportsinkansas

Utica, Kansas gym. Population around 120 in 2024. Recently a local farmer bought the gym and cleaned it up after the high school closed in the early 2000s. A lot of history in this gym: Garold Baker 50pt game in this gym, Dave Burrell - 3rd all-time in Kansas in PPG in a season, Ron Baker grew up playing in this gym before going to school at Scott City and making the NBA. #sportsinkansas
