I spend less time in Figma than I used to. Not because I value it less, but because I can feel my work on breakpoints and the real environment instead of a canvas. That doesn't make me faster at design. It makes me faster at interacting with the thing as a user. Figma is still in my stack - it just evolved when and how I use it. I still use Illustrator and Indesign, just way less than before. Tools evolve, core of design stayed the same. What I think @NStoronsky was getting at: you design faster because you experience the thing faster and self-correct, instead of waiting for someone else to build it for you. It still isn't the same as better design. So I agree with @rsms: great design isn't a function of speed, or tools.
“designing much faster than the others” — this so daft and makes it clear they don’t understand design at all. “Designing fast” (or slow) is just not a thing. If you conflate “producing ui by piecing together stuff” and “design” then the former (which is a form of assembly-line practice) can surely be fast or slow. What makes the practice of design challenging is not how to put a ui or poster together, it’s what the pieces are, what the message is, what is being communicated, how it all works together. So many of today’s “design” AI tools focus almost exclusively on the production part, on putting stuff together. I’d love to see an AI design tool that forms a deep understanding of a problem over the course of days or months and works like a creative partner. Call me on my bullshit, thinks about the whole, isn’t concerned really about the final arrangement of elements as much as it would understand the story and the message.

I have so many lyrics living rent-free in my head that I never cared about. So I started making music that encodes topics I actually want to learn. First WIP: React functions, built with @anabology's Claudia, @suno , and @higgsfield . Love to get weird with visuals and audio. Best time ever for learning and oddity. It's already stuck in my head few hours later. Rap album incoming.

Where it ended up: the rock became a mountain, and its edge became a line chart. 3 years of fast growth, then the last 5 months going nearly vertical. Full process coming soon.
Opus 5.5 is stellar at motion. But the output is only as good as the direction. One of the early explorations for @e2b 2 billion sandboxes post. What made the difference wasn’t the prompt, it was the loop: brand system and references up front, keyframes before motion, then tight notes on pacing, easing and layout. Next step is codifying it into a skill so anyone on the team can run it.

Added a small meter under the concurrent sandboxes number in the E2B dashboard. A big number shows you how much. The meter shows you how close to the limit you are. Shipping one small thing daily. Can't wait for the end of year before/after.

Made the copy button in the E2B docs feel better. The icon now morphs into a check instead of just swapping. It's a tiny change, but it makes the click feel confirmed. The idea comes from @jakubkrehel's details that make interfaces feel better, which is my go-to for quick wins: jakub.kr/writing/details-tha…

✨ Favorite detail.
Updated our hover states to match the dithered textures we use across E2B. I especially like how the dithered spotlight feels on the dark outlined buttons. Live at e2b.dev

The new episode of "How to Build a Design System Fast" is out! 🚀 This time I tackle colors, modes, and themes - making them maintainable, scalable and accessible without the usual complexity. Read it here: substack.com/home/post/p-159… A thread on what you'll learn 👇

3️⃣ A 3-step process for setting up a flexible color system in Figma: - Define theme colors - Create semantic layer - Explore themes With this approach, switching themes & modes becomes trivial.

Massive s/o to @jakubowskiandy, who significantly improved and shaped this system setup with his big brain 🧠 Read the full article here: substack.com/home/post/p-159… Feedback always appreciated! ✌️

I've built design systems for 4 companies already—and learned how to do it fast. I'm sharing a series of practical guides on how our 2-person team (@jakubowskiandy & I) built and launched a complete design system—themes, modes, visuals, components—in just 6 weeks. Read it here peterkocur.substack.com/p/ho…

Working with @chakra_ui just got a little better! A few essential components were always missing when building with Chakra, so @patresk_ built them for free. 👏

This might be the most exciting product update I've ever seen for software. I've been following the journey of @browsercompany from day one and have always admired the innovation they brought to relatively stagnant space. youtube.com/watch?v=WIeJF3kL…

LLMs are redefining how we interact with the world and turning experiences upside down, and Arc is changing the web. I already couldn't imagine returning to any other browser, but this will be something else. You should put them on your radar if you are a product person.

After an intense 15 months of review, today Adobe and Figma have decided to end our pending merger, as we no longer see a path toward regulatory approval of the deal. figma.com/blog/figma-adobe-a…
