Solitude
"Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong.'
- Winston Churchill
This quote captures a poetic truth about resilience in isolation. It aligns perfectly with my happiness of leading a solitary life, in which being alone feels enriching rather than burdensome. I should add that I never really felt lonely; I always was in company of my books as well as my pets.
Solitude differs from loneliness. Solitude is chosen, reflective aloneness. Solitude is not the absence of company but a positive state of being at ease with oneself.
Loneliness, on the other hand, is a rather painful isolation, an unmet and frustrating desire for connection. Nobody likes loneliness.
Many celebrate solitude as a path to strength, self-knowledge, freedom, and creativity, but there's a certain need to balance solitude with or within society. I've had a very busy life with my bar and restaurant in a touristy place; always being around many people. I compensated that with long walks and bike rides. I needed my daily me-time.
As Seneca wisely put it: 'Solitude will cure our aversion to the crowd; the crowd, our boredom with solitude'.
I love those precious, invaluable hours of solitude, and, being a reader, I became addicted to spending time alone early in my life.
Carl Gustav Jung saw solitude as a path to an indestructible foundation, healing, and the unfolding of a unique individuality. Like Churchill's tree, the person who can thrive alone - rooted in books, quiet companionship, and inner dialogue - grows resilient and authentic.

Well, I get home after a long, exhausting day and find this by my bed- left there by my son. Finally, there is a real man in my life! Well, I suppose that’s no surprise; after all, I gave birth to him and raised him to always be a Man- in the best sense of the word!
Good night
Second try. I just posted last week's Shakespeare, now Sonnet 36. As usual you'll find the explanations in the comments.

"Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens."

Good morning. A stormy night indeed (and it's still blowing) but the house is still standing.
Funnily there are two storms trending on X; storm Boelo and storm Beolo. Spelling ain't easy.
Never mind the wind; there's coffee waiting.
Happy Sunday!

Pooh wandered into the Hundred Acre Wood, and was standing in front of what had once been Owl’s House. It didn’t look like a house now; it looked like a tree which had been blown down; and as soon as a house looks like that, it is time to find another one. ~A.A.Milne #StormBoelo

Goodnight.

Rest in peace, beloved Chromebook. I butchered my 11'' little Acer. It was a Granddaddy in computertime - 5 years old - and broke down completely.
I'm a master in taking things apart, but that's as far as my technical abilities go.
Ad acta. In English, in the trash.

“Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future too.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
It's one of those books I'm still fighting with regularly; like wading through chocolate pudding. I'm not the greatest fan of this stoic philosophy. Smart guy though, Marcus Aurelius.

Dreich
Pronounced 'driːx', with a final Scottish "ch" sound like a hard throat clearing or hiss, is a classic Scottish and Scots-language adjective.
Weather: Wet, damp, grey, gloomy, overcast, or persistently drizzly (often paired with a fine mist or 'smirr').
Language. Always fun.

I failed to mention that I found this word at @AlisonPailing's post.
Just pretending to be busy while watching Formula 1 racing and drinking loads of coffee. Ah well, it's weekend.
